In Europe (selected countries that have high inflation right now) they actually raised the price with 50 euros. It's around 622 USD if we convert from my local currency (SEK). Before it was raised it was like 100 USD less. It's pretty upsetting.

The Thermal paste deteriorates faster because its affected by gravity. When the system is running in becomes more liquid, and will drip down towards the bottom, which then prevents even distribution of paste and can leave your system to overheat more often

the glossier black on the Slim looks cheaper to me, and the missing "stripes" on either side of the black part leaving a big gap is unattractive. I can see straight in! bad for lint too. Slim is truly the horizontal console and the OG is the vertical.

I always get PS on launch but this time I’ve decided instead of upgrading, just to wait for ps5 pro, but it’s only coming late 2024, so I tought maybe buying a slim, since the “Fay” ps5 is huge.I tought it would be slimmer. Its still huge and expensive. Atm with Black Friday the ps5 “fat” has a better price. I’m worried about the cooling at slim tho. Can’t decided.

It is exactly the same as the previous version. No upgraded HDMI... Although I know on a monitor for PCs desktop UI it can make a big difference, but not on a tv playing a video game on a console. devs already design there games around the chroma limitation, so they dont use any fine text or small ui elements (it would be too small also on a 4k screen) So is there really any noticeable difference between YUV 4 2 2 and RGB (444)??? especially at 4k?

I kinda got lucky with my PS5 Slim. I bought a used PS5 with disc drive from GameStop for $470 and 2 weeks later (Still within the return policy) they came out with the slim. I came back and exchanged the used PS5 for the New Slim model. So I only owed them $30, from their I traded in a couple of controllers I wasn’t using and bingo, I got it without dropping a dime in that moment lol, it was essentially already payed for with that used console I initially bought lol thank goodness I was still within that 30 day exchange window.

@@Crashed131963 I have a mid tower and a Small Form Factor PC builds running high end CPUs and GPU, they all run just fine. I think you are underestimating how easy it is to call computer components, especially on consoles.

to me i like the OG version of PS5, and the i like the STAND/DOCK of the OG it looks like it was floating when its in horizontal.

I would really like to have a PS5 but here in Brazil everything is very expensive.

I don't like the fact that it doesn't have vent/grills in the middle on slim, more likely for dust to get in there.

@@haydensteinz2268 Yeah maybe if you don’t take care of it but in my opinion it looks better than the matte. I got some tv color backlights and the ps5 slim next to my tv and the colors reflect off the ps5 which is cool. If you are gonna be touching it all the time then yeah the matte will handle fingerprints and scratches better but in looks the glossy is better.

The Liquid Metal rumor has been debunked.. The PS5 has to be previously worked on in order for there to be a slim (pun intended) chance of a leak..They don’t leak out of the box or never opened and worked on ( except very rare cases, like bad batches).

The OG fatboy is better, no reason to go slim unless you're really in love with a smaller formfactor.

The day they stop, making consults with CDs and physical copies is the day I would stop possibly gaming because you could definitely get better deals on the physical copies then you can on the digital market

I prefer the OG but it's down to personal preference but personally I don't like the look of the slim it looks like it came from wish and the fact you need 2 separate stands when the OG has one for vertical and horizontal

People carry a Cell Phone with them not a Console . I don't care if my console weights 5 lbs or 100 lbs I'm not touching it after I set it up . Where mine sits it could be twice the size larger and not matter ,

in regards the thermal paste, they obviously got the 2020 models, but the 2022 models had no issue vertically. I think repair people be over exaggerating. Replacing thermal paste is baby cakes and that's been debunked

I prefer the original ps5 because it doesn’t require you to connect it to the internet for it to work😂 With the new one, even brand new it’s a brick until you register it to Sony’s servers. I don’t like the idea of that in principle. Sony have been hacked before, during ps3 era I couldn’t access psn,we were locked out the store until it was resolved. It took so long that they compensated players with a few free digital downloadable games as a thank you for our patience. As my ps3 console back then didn’t require me to connect to their servers to use it I could still play the games I bought on disc. I was still pissed but not as pissed as I would be if I couldn’t even play the physical discs I paid for because I can’t handshake my disc drive to Sony’s server if something was to go wrong again, in the future with their servers. Even with my internet, there are times when it goes down and I have to wait for my provider to rectify it, but what about when you need an internet connection to play the physical media because the ps5 slim needs to communicate with the internet not just when it is used for the first time, but sometimes after crashes?🤷……Yeah, new PS5 slim, not a fan!

You don`t have to keep the slim connected to the internet for it to work. You just have to connect it once to verify it, then you can play without internet.

$449 for the digital is most definitely not a fair price considering if you want to add a disc drive it’s another $80, so $30 more than the disc version, if you want to stand it up it’s another $30 for a piece of plastic. It now comes with 1TB which it always should have considering the XSX has 1TB since launch, there’s absolutely no value in this, PlayStation launched this to save money in manufacturing, but yet they raised the price providing No value to its consumer.

It`s more useful than the old integrated drive. It allows for a disc upgrade later on for those who buy the digital version. And in case your disc drive breaks, you can easily swap it.

They removed 4 nand flash packages. Going from 8 to 4

Everyone is complaining so much about physical media. There is currently no source that can carry the size current games are. Theres always a download for something nowadays. The only option they have is to release sd/micro sd per game and no one wants that lmfaoo they will 1) lose them 2) complain about the cost cause that shit is definitely gonna increase.
