I have been playing video games since the NES and this generation has been the most underwhelming I have lived through. The PS5 and Series X are slight upgrades from last generation and the Switch despite it's lack of power has provided more entertaining games then both.

I really like the PlayStation 5, it's a really solid machine. But you're absolutely right this generation has been by far the most incremental graphic upgrade I've ever seen. I'll never forget when I bought a Dreamcast or a PlayStation 2 and was unable to believe what I was seeing, I sure miss that feeling. That's quite disappointing, I still think demon's souls from 4 years ago is the best looking game of this generation.

Lego Horizon is genuinely weird idea for a game yet at the same time I still kinda dig it. I love Sony's first party studios as much as the next guy but I will admit that their family friendly output has been lacking in recent years to say it best.

@@vectoralphaAI Lego's target audience tend to be kids and young adults. Horizon's target audience leans more towards people in their early 30s. It does not have the same appeal Star Wars, or Batman have by being a story everyone can get into. Kids will not understand it. And most adults will forget about it.. In fact, I've already forgotten a majority of what happens with the first Horizon game besides the fact Alloy gets a holographic machine, sees ghost projections, and fights robotic dinosaurs.

Whereas I only need to pay a little over a thousand for a computer that can last 20 years with the only thing that I need to replace is a graphics card of 150.00 to less dollars and it does more than just play games, can be upgraded more easily. And all the games I buy cost $40.00 dollars or less.

I really liked both the Horizon games, Forbidden West is my favorite I like it better then the first. But I have no interest in a Lego Horizon game pass for me.

I mean when you see the sorts of decisions Square Enix makes (not releasing FF Pixel Remaster in stores comes to mind) and then later having to admit that was a huge source of income for them that could have potentially been higher had it been a wider release…it’s a wonder they aren’t in more trouble. They consistently make some of the most questionable decisions.

I expected to see new PS2 games on the PS5, but surprised that they will come out for the PS4 too, I'm curious if there will be any improvement in resolution or framerate compared to the original emulator they created, some PSP games on the base PS4 run poorly, Toy Story 3, for example, has some very strange framerate drops.

So happy to hear Jason is still over there working on something, it was really disappointing when it was announced that he left in 2022. I'm curious to see what he does next given his history as a game director (or whatever his official position was at Treyarch). If he tries to continue the zombies formula outside of the CoD license or if he does something completely different and ambitious. The safe bet would be just another CoD zombies. But that dude has been working on those since 2008 (I believe he was there helping JZ back then) so I can see him wanting a change.

Man, I wish Killzone was blowing up instead of Horizon

My friend got Ghost on PC and I PS5, we crossplayed in Legends. It works well. No you don't need to play the story to jump on MP. He did had some trouple finding my PSN in the game at firsr. The PS option was greyed out in the game menu. He had to do a restart. So no you don't need linking to PSN for playing single player story. But we need to be friends on PSN first to play together.

Always find it funny hearing phrases like the “back half” of the console’s lifecycle concerning PS5 when, for the first two years of its “lifecycle”, no one could buy it. It was basically unavailable for two solid years. Comparing it to previous console performance over time doesn’t seem right.

Seeing more PS2 games coming to PS is great!

Games don't take long to make. They're easier to make now than ever before. Bigger studios just choose to waste millions of hours and coins on "big IPs" that may or may not sell well. I'd rather have them do more smaller games for a change.

I could be wrong but it might be the cross trophy list that's forcing the psn even for the single player.

One reason for PS5 sales down is most players are waiting for PS5 Pro release this year. Playstation needs to make more exclusive titles for PS5 only, this includes 2nd and 3rd party developers as well.

It obvious why sony are removing the game from sale to those countries. Those are the same countries you can't get psn in so if they make it mandatory for you to have a psn game for ghost of Tsushima there won't be as much back lash. It the same reason why they didn't reinstate all the countries that they restricted purchase for with hell divers 2. In a year of 2 when they reinstate the psn requirement because all there other games have to now. There won't be as much backlash. Pirate software said pretty much the same thing.

"The Lego dev" known as "The LEGO group" is multiple game studios. The one that made the Star Wars, Avengers, and Lego Movie games is Traveler's Tale and they tend to release games every 2 years.

It wasn’t just one Star Wars game it was their most ambitious project ever. Lego skywalker saga is the biggest Lego game they’ve made yet, and also the first Lego game to utilize current gen graphics. It was also delayed multiple times and ran into issues during development. It did take an unusual amount of time to release but that’s due to its scale and issues behind the scenes. That being said it’s not my kind of game, i actually think the game kind of sucks.

So by the way also, there is a common misconception that Steam is a "global platform" it is not much different than PSN or other global platforms, I know that the more common impression is that Steam doesn't have region restrictions.... it does, this is a weird misconception that came up since the Helldivers 2 controversy, there are absolutely sales restrictions on regions of other games, not all games, but it's not something new for Steam even for Valve's own games... also please look at the regions of the restricted regions for Ghost/Helldivers... it's like Afghanistan, Gambia, Lithuania, Belarus, Trinidad, Pakistan, Vietnam (steam itself is banned from Vietnam since last 2 weeks), Egypt, etc. most of these are African regions or countries, Eastern European countries who are not always friendly to international companies, and island countries.... not all of them make sense like why is PSN not in Trinidad and maybe Lithuania, but if the cost of doing business there is more to or very close to the expected income from those areas, there is no reason for a company to support those regions, regions also have to have the infrastructure and legal framework to be able to support an online service, network, and terms of service..... anyway, don't follow the general opinion that Steam is a stranger to region restrictions on games on their store as this is not true, and by and large the vast majority of the regions restricted for PSN are places there is no reason to support a network there

PS5 is ahead PS4 in all markets excep for Europe. It is too expensive in Europe at almost US$600 when the PS4 at the same point of its lifetime in 2017 was just US$ 364 adjusted for inflation.

I don’t understand the deal with Final Fantasy games going multi-platform. To best of my knowledge they already Re. You’ve FF7 Remake trilogy already going on PC and 16 is announced for PC. The whole benefit of being launch exclusive is it takes dev time down so we’re 3 or 4 years wait instead of 6 or 7.

Ryan - I find x-box games coming to PS5 intriguing. To me It’s odd that Bethesda have not output new games in their franchises on x-box, including Fallout and Wolfenstein. Acquired in March 2021. Fallout 76 was released Nov 2018(fallout 4 2015) & Wolfenstein Youngblood July 2019(new colossus was 2017). That’s not even mentioning elder scrolls. Man I love the fallout and Wolfenstein franchises and may have swayed me to buy a new x-box if new games had been released. All seems to be from bad management and planning to me. A new fallout game to go with the series would have been a system seller but they missed a trick big time. I’m like obsessed playing fallout 4 again on PS5.

I'd love to be able to play fallout 3 and new vegas on Playstation without having to stream it

Why it peaked? its because the ps5 is expensive and doesn't have much ps5 only exclusives. Returnal, Stellar Blade, A Spider Man 2, Few Final Fantasies, GT7, ahh yeah the rest are multiplatform for both ps4/ps5.

I don't think the exclusivity off Final Fantasy that's the problem, I think it's just the price of games and life. I know I have a huge backlog of games and can't afford to spend $89.99 CDN for a game to sit on my shelf/back catalogue.

I'd buy way more games closer to launch (assuming they aren't buggy messes) if they were closer to £40 for the standard edition. As it is, my library is huge so I can wait years without missing out, at which point they're closer to £20.

But the exclusivity IS a problem. How do they expect to get Xbox fans into the franchise with ff14 alone and not the shiny newest entry. Then think of all the pc players like myself that would like to buy the game but don't own a playstation, have to wait a year+ for pc release, and then probably another year for it go on sale for a reasonable price considering its an older game at that point.
