Just recently went through a 60GB PS3 "reflow" and I almost gave up hope when I found that I couldn't insert a disc into the drive. Fortunately enough for me I kept a clear head and came across this marvelous upload. Your tutorial remedied my problem "to the T". Thank you so much for your thought. It's very much appreciated!!

I've had a problem with my KEM-410A and am still diagnosing the exact issue. My PS3 will not play (or recognise) any disk (BR/DVD/CD). I've checked out a number of video and I just wanted to let you know yours is the best one I've found thus far. I've taken the drive apart, but made some newbie errors in my haste to take it apart and not finding (until now) the video that matches my particular drive unit. Your video helped me fix a number of issues - I'd left the drive in my when I dismantled it and so I had the issue with the white post preventing insertion of a subsequent disk (two seconds after watching your video this was solved! Thanks). I'm not going to look and see if you've described how to remove the laser unit somewhere ... as I think that's my issue (well, the motor part of it anyhow).

Thank you for making this video, it was very helpful and a good resource to have when repairing my bluray drive.

OMG Than You so much. Ive had a broken ps3 for about 2 months but not no more. I literally ordered a disc drive off ebay then 20 min later found ur video. luckily i got to them quick enough to cancel it.To answer your question above i typed in kes410a i believe the first time and you were the 3rd video but i did some research for you. When i insert : ps3 disc drive repair, your 2nd page 2nd result. disc drive fix your 1st page 7th video.

Thanks. This actually helped me. My console would make the noise it does when inserting the disk but wouldn't actually read it or even register with the blue light that shows there is a disk in it. Now it's fixed but I still can't get my Advanced Warfare to work :( At least I can play other games though :)

omfg!!!! thanks to you, I just saved 95 dollars! The "repair shop" I got my YLOD repaired at fixed it for 60 dollars, then wanted another 95 to fix the blu ray after I got home and told them I couldn't put games in the system.

Just what I needed! But like anything get one problem fixed another pops up. Now when it takes the disk in I hearing a wining sound for a few seconds then the blue light goes off. So now it isn't reading! Double Damnit! But inserts and ejects discs just fine now! Appreciate it! No to find another video.....

Sounds like the laser is worn out or damaged. Try replacing it. I'll be doing a video on this very soon.

Console Repair Guy this is my problem after i finished replacing the thermal paste in my ps3 as far as i know everything is in place but the ps3 wont suck in the disc but i can push in the disk all the way i tried that but the game didnt work so i had to manually get it out can you help me with this

I could find a tutorial for the cechl01 and was freakin out. then i found this gem. yesm at last someone using the same machine i have. great instructions, explanations and demonstration. Only thing it didn't have, and i really need is how to was how to reattach the blu ray ribbon.

It wasn't exactly the same drive. But i had another mechanism in the wrong place, sorted now. Well, you have to push the disc in a lot further than you usually do to get it to draw the disc in. Other than that... it's fine. I was too quick to give up trying to fix my YLOD. Ripped the Bluray drive apart to get my game and then managed to fix the YLOD lol. Got this system on ebay.. and for some reason any disk i would put it were getting dirty out of the sudden.. come to find out it was a mixture of dog, cat, human hair hahah shit.. so after cleaning everything.. including lens.. disc was rejected, drive was spinning anymore.. so thanx to this video! You saved me! I was about to order a new laser.. ahhaha Thank you brother! Really appreciate it!

Thank you so much, I took the drive apart like 5 times and couldn't get it to work properly because I didn't know about that white lever-thingy which must be in the proper place. Now it's working again, pulling the disc in, but it doesn't show up in the menu. I opened the drive because I suspected the laser to be the problem, so I cleaned it a bit, but it's still not working. Neither Blu-rays nor DVDs are recognized. Do you think I should try replacing just the laser unit, the whole laser assembly or the entire drive? In any case, thank you so much for this video! I sent you $5 for some nice coffee man ;)

never mind fixed it working perfectly ejecting, taking the disc, and spinning. I just had to put it on the ps3 plug it in with the top off an see how everything worked together.

I think I've messed up the gears and I'm hoping you'll be willing to make another video on how to fix that as you mention at around the 4:00 minute mark. If you would upload that it would be a fantastic help to me. Thanks!

every other video they didn't know what they were talking bout so I was stuck guessing. ylod was easy to fix, but the drive was a hard video to find I lucked into this one. But I think my luck has run out since I snipped them but if ik what they do I maybe to rig it to where I can manually fix it every time I put a disc in.

Man i love you i fixed my drive, but i had a lil trouble, when put the larger skrews to fix the upper part of the case, it doesnt read disks, i opted for put just only two skrews, i dunno whats happening but its cool lol. I had like a bunch of skrews that i dont know how to put it xD.

the little grey arms that flip up, I'm guessing they lock in to hold the loader open enough so the disc can spin freely?

Awesome video man. But he is what happens to me after I did what you did. I made sure to follow your steps correctly and I did but when i put everything back together and put in a disk to test it if it works the disk goes in, the blue light flashes and the turns off and now the disk is stuck again inside. Can you tell me how to fix that? Or what the problem is and why its doing that? Thanks
