"Prufrock Evaluation" Tesla Gigafactory Texas 6/20/2024. 8:34AM
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
Prufrock did not got to another job but, set aside for tear down and evaluation. Production seem to be running smoothly. More blade fans being install at the cooling towers. Lots of Cybertrucks are shipped out today.

Ha, I would love to see how the drivers get back to solid ground after they parked high up on the semi-trailer. Quite a distance / big giant step to the ground.
Thanks Brad 0:31. Southend, south. Fire escape passages. Screw piles extend almost to the pond, leaving little space for an access road for delivery vehicles. Suggests to me that there will be no more than a sidewalk/footpath between the screw piles and the pond. A road over the passages seems likely. 4:51 also. 0:57. Southend, Cooling Tower. South stairs being constructed. 1:46. Southend, East Pond. Pipe to the left likely for seepage monitoring. Same arrangement at the old evaporation pond. 2:15. Parking Garage. Top Level. Left. First non-construction type vehicle parked here. Evidently untroubled by the arduous trek to the elevators. 2:45. Windtunnel. Cybertruck parked. 3:30. River Road, east extension. Stack of black HDPE pipe. Small fusing/cutting machine bottom left at 3:38. 3:32. River Road, east extension. Excavator, possible temporary drainage works. There is a pipe in the trench. 4:37. Southend, east. Level 1. Left. Mud-base concrete placed. 6:34. Southend, west. Stormwater drain works. Unusually in concrete out past the building line. Left. Water storage trailer. Water supply for the pumps inside likely. 7:00. GA, loading platform. Alimak (elevator) mast erected. 8:07. Westside, old contractors parking lot. TBM being disassembled. Tail shield has left site. 8:17. Westside, old contractors parking lot. Bottom left. Feet from the hydraulic rams. 11:10. EOL, south. Exiting vehicles tracking water out. Washing facility inside must be operational. More water coming out at the south than going in at the north at 12:45. 13:33. EOL transport yard. Pixelated driver. 14:57. EOL transport yard. Non-pixelated driver.

I start to miss the daily sally by our resident tunneling expert David.. Is there nothing left to observe? My amateur assessment is that the TBC crews are awfully relaxed in cleaning up the worksite, if the tunnel must be operational in less than 5 weeks from now. Maybe the soil around the tube must settle first before substantial weight is added with the concrete driveway?

Yes, nothing better than a true specialist commenting. I was hoping for another tunnel, but now that the TBM is being dismantled, and already the tail shield removed from site, the chance for an additional tunnel is quickly fading. I guess the thrust ring footing will be left in place if possible. No need to remove it unless it somehow interferes with the portal. The construction team are quite efficient with earthworks and paving. I think no more than 2 weeks to create the tunnel ramp and roadway to it. Inside the tunnel, drainage works, the road decks, asphalt paving, lighting and emergency systems would easily keep them busy for a couple of weeks. 5 weeks is doable I would think. Jeff's video of a trip in Las Vegas tunnel shows there is no fire sprinkler system. No ventilation system either, except maybe a ducted fan at the portal.

I miss David Salisbury's comments too. Tunnel being operational in less than 5 weeks.... I wouldn't pay too much attention to timelines from TBC or Musk. Keep in mind that TBC claimed that they could set up in 24 hours and had a goal of being able to tunnel at a rate of 7 miles per day!
Thanks Brad! New south pond: @ 3:31 and 1:51 Excavating shallow trenches and laying pipe, connecting new pond to the existing pond? Cooling tower: @ 4:08 Fourth fan unit... Fan hub bolted to fan gearbox. Fan blades are on the way. Behind.... Large cooling pipes coming out from the building. @ 4:03 Concrete slab at tower base... Forms set up for small concrete pads for equipment.

Here is an electrical question for you David: the other day Elon mentioned that in the first wave they are shooting for 130 MW power/cooling for the datacenter, expandable to 500 MW (!!!) in 18 months or so. Where is all that power coming from?? It is about the total output from the commercial powerplant to the South, which is already fully booked by the looks of it (big plumes above the cooling towers). Also, to put 500 MW onto some racks on the roof seems a bit.. odd. For that amount of power a HV spur from the main grid wouldn't be out of place I would think.

@@hardernl8893 First, while I have some knowledge, I am not an electrician. What I can tell you for sure..... * No power is coming from the gas turbine power plant across the river. Which is owned by Austin Electric and it provided power to the temporary substation, via the smaller 138 kV transmission lines. * The new duct-banks being constructed contain 12 conduits each. But right now, only 8 conduits from each duct-bank actually enter the building. But that can be easily upgraded 12 conduits each to the building if they do it prior to pulling cable. Let's assume each conduit contains one three-phase circuit. So counting only one duct-bank (the second duct-bank is likely redundant), there will be 12 new three-phase circuits bringing power in. How much power for each circuit? Here is where I am not 100% sure. Just a wild guess would be 8 to 10 MW each, for a total of 96 to 120 MW. I don't know how to do three-phase current calculations. But did find a calculator online. It says to get 8 MW @ 24.9 kV would require 321 Amps. 10 MW would require 400 Amps. So 130 MW may be do-able. They also can add one more transformer to the substation. And there is one more duct-bank coming out of the mega-vault, also containing 12 more conduits. *500 MW? I would take what Musk says with a grain of salt. That is half the power from a typical nuclear reactor! * HV spur from the main grid..... If you mean from another set transmission lines located elsewhere, that would be very expensive. There would have to be a switchyard at the begging and a substation at the end, plus the cost of the towers and lines in-between. Even a second substation on the existing LCRA transmission lines would be expensive. * Cable trays on the roof.... It will be interesting to see how they do lightening protection? Also, the trays are double stacked and appear way too close to each other. If anything happens to one cable tray, they can lose both of them. The electrical experts out there can correct me if I got any of this wrong.
Certainly ticking along but the total GT EV run rate has never yet been something to write home about. Certainly cracking on big time within the southern extension. 50k Nvidia H100 along with heaven knows how many HW4 processors will at least double the present total company compute, of which most all is related to FSD.
Does anyone know why there are collections of cybertrucks in a number of locations? Some outside the factory, some not.
