    @@Paul-D I was going to say, when you cover one eye with your hand, you can't see as focused as using two eyes, I think the same thing goes when blind folded, you can't focus your hearing better when your visually blocked off, it must be something psychological that hinders your brains attention to details, When hearing them, I hear the differences, but it's only subtle, but both offer their sonic sounds, considering both sound great, under the blind mind I wouldn't have as strong of a distinguish. I think the main difference a regular stratocaster sounds more brighter or brittle but a silver sky to me sounds thicker or rather crisp

  • @Adipsia1

    @Adipsia1

    Жыл бұрын

    @@Paul-D The neck on the DGT is out there on its own when it comes to PRS's that I've owned. I've never quite got on with the pattern-thin PRS necks, whereas I'd class this as more of a C-shape and a little fatter. Incredibly comfortable for me. By comparison with Gibson Custom-Shop LP necks, I'd place it more in the 59/60 camp rather than 58. I have a couple of lovely 60's style Custom-Shop Fenders - a 61 Strat and a 63 Tele - and I'd say that with the coil-split on the DGT I can get 95% of the way to both. The split switched to the neck is very close to my Strat and bridge, close to my Tele. In humbucker-mode it's really close to a vintage Les Paul with low-wind pickups and more traditional wiring-loom. Would I sell either of my CS Fenders or 96 Les Paul with Lollar Imperials ? No, that would be sacrilegious. But if I was only allowed to keep one electric guitar and sell the rest I'd keep my DGT and sell all my Fenders and Gibsons. Hope that helps. :)

Enough to the point that I though I may have bought a lemon. But some, and then some more, and then some more adjustments later, this thing plays like a dream. And I can say after playing it a ton. I now get the term, more straty than a strat. I could go on on that, but yuo can't understand that until you've pushed one of these hard. How am I suppose to sound like the man who made the Stratocaster a recognized paradigm and never find my own voice with such a shite set up - I didn’t even mention all of the fast food wrappers and cigarette butts that were stuffed up under the pick guard. For real though - that is the correct color. There are a couple of colors that they nailed on that guitar. It’s almost like fender’s sonic grey (I believe) but I see it as a slightly cooler grey. Makes me wonder what options were tested into the warmer, more red than blue greys. If I were in the market for a new Stratocaster, which I am not, I think I would be going for that exact SE - maybe the sand color,, but probably the grey. Nice vid guys.

    Why compare the USA Fender with an SE? Unless you WANT the Fender which costs 3 times as much, to have an advantage? Compare it to the same price range Silver Sky or John Mayer Silver Sky and the PRS will absolutely walk the Fender.

    Hmmm that’s interesting given the poly finish is alot thinner on these then the poly on a player series. Trust me try stripping one 😅 That said, if your a maple neck guy that could explain it. However the Pau Ferro on the mim strats compared to the rosewood on these is night and day difference from a quality point of view i think

    You pick the version of Strat that costs exponentially more money than the SE? That's kind of goofy and a little backwards. Compare the SE to the guitar it competes with, the identically priced MIM Strat Player Series. Compare the Core model to the American made Strat if you're going to do a high end comparison like that. i get the reasoning you guys say why you went with what you did. But i think even people buying the MIM strats would be buying one in hopes itncomes close to a 63 or 64 strat sound

    I have to disagree I’m afraid. When the PRS SE Silver Sky launched, I WAS one of those people who mocked the look of it - Frankensteincaster - without playing it or giving it a fair fighting chance. So, when a number of UK retailers dropped the price on it to £599, I went ahead and ordered one up. I’ve been playing Strats for over 35 years and I really wanted to be surprised at how good it was, compared to a Fender; but I just couldn’t like it. The plastic tuning nuts aside - which are a pretty poor option, considering the original price was £895 - the pickups are incredibly thin and tinny and when pushed through my Bass Breaker or Katana, were so muddy, you could barely distinguish each string. A very poor copy/representation of a Strat in my opinion and apart from all the hype and dribbling from retailers who obviously want to push this model because of sales, I cannot see Fender anytime soon, quaking in their pants. The colour options are very limited and the ones that are available such as Moon White (Yellow), Dragon Fruit, Ever Green and Stone Blue, I’m pretty sure have been given these fancy names, in a desperate attempt at covering up the drab nature of them. Even at £599 - which is the price I paid for mine - I felt like I was playing exactly what is stamped on the reverse of the headstock, an Indonesian Strat copy. The PRS SE Silver Sky lasted all of two weeks in my possession and has now been traded in for a Japanese Strat, which is absolutely perfect. In my own humble opinion, the PRS is over priced, over hyped and is a poor attempt of a variation on a classic Fender, that didn’t need changing.

And the only point that you’ve so foolishly proved is that YOU are unwilling to recognise or listen to another guitarist’s point of view.
