    On my SE McCarty 594 I changed the jack, the tolerance was off and a standard 1/4” jack wiggled. I bought a Switchcraft for $5 and it’s much tighter. I recommend a lite application of low to medium strength threadlocker so the jack nut stays on.

    Its a partial coil tap on those DGT guitars....you can see the resistor going to ground when you removed the cavity cover.

    I wonder why the strings don't want to come out on this bridge (I had the same issue) none of my other guitars are like this.

    The string holes in the sustain block can be so finely machined to the point of being slightly undersize - even a couple thousandths makes a big difference. This is usually the main issue. Combine that with slightly oversized ball ends (depends on the brand) and you got more headaches.

    Just use the end of an old string and push the string and it through.

    That is my personal '79 Les Paul custom purchased used in 1980. Not a mark on it - until I gigged the living snot out of it for a few decades. Thanks for asking :)

    I'll watch the whole 64 minutes later but I wanted to mention. I love my DGT SE but when it first arrived the High E wouldn't intonate without a bit of metalwork. The saddle was contacting the head of the trem screw but the intonation was still Flat. The sellers made me an 'adjusted' saddle with enough metal cut away from the face of the saddle to be able to ride over the trem screw head. I still had to fine file it to get it just right but with that fix, everything was and still is sorted 👍 Encouraged, I later bought an SE Silver Sky, and do you know what ? Same thing with the High E intonation clearance, or rather lack of it ... This time though I just filed the saddle to clear the screw, a Fender style bent steel saddle this time, not a solid block. What were the chances of getting the same thing happening twice ?

    Seen this type of thing on many "fine" instruments. Happens more than manufacturers would like to admit.

    P.S. Despite that little bit of factory misalignment, I still think that they're both excellent guitars and good value for money. Even better vfm a year or so later with their newer reduced prices.

    Ive just bought a DGT SE and the Low E is going out of tune and there is fret buzz just on that string. Any ideas how to solve by myself? If not a quick fix then will seek a Luthier.

  • @guitar-niche

    @guitar-niche

    @@aperson7382 The quickest and easiest fix is to change the string and see if it resolves the problem. Other than that, other possible causes could be uneven frets in that area, the nut slot cut too low, or not enough relief.

    Intonation is not hard I follow Dan Erlewines method. Guitar in playing position open and fretted 12 th fret to divide the string length in half and accounting for deflection, I like a strobe tuner. Been setting up my guitars for over a decade.
