    Quick tip for people who struggle on this mission in the vanilla game. Just make 40 phoenix then a-move across the locks. The enemy gets stronger when they take back a lock, so just… don’t. Solar lance erases any attack wave and the archons on the top lock. Everything else just dies and/or can be flown around. (This is not the dev commentary btw, just something I figured out when making the mission that makes the vanilla version kind of a pushover)

    Got to ask, are you doing the thing where the enemy gets to play with full power Vanguards but the player gets the co-op Vanguards at best?

    @@NoName-mi8js Coop vanguards deal half as much damage. Unless you’re talking about P1 alarak which makes them absurd.

    @@NoName-mi8js Nah, campaign ones have 16 projectiles, coop ones have 8. While coop ones can have more splash that doesn't make them better at all.

    Objective of Temple of Unification is very unique: you need to take 5 locks as progressively bigger attack waves are deleting your base

    Alarak doesn’t mess around. Would you believe me if I told you the enemy vanguards are nerfed? Cuz they are. Dark Templar shadow fury can only hit non-armored units. It also has less range and a smaller area. Temple of Unification Main bases are harder to break More frequent attacks if the player has no (or few) locks Enemy attack wave frequency gets slower each time they cap a lock This is very much a tempo + map control mission. The more proxy robos/gates/rax you kill, the weaker the enemy waves. You can kinda sit back and max out but it’s not very pretty. You can see how little aggression there was as long as grant held 1 or 2 locks. The last change is to reduce the “run back and forth” part of the end of the mission. (It absolutely came into play here, which is nice to see)

    Does the nightmare ai still affect other difficulties? It looks so fun, but a little too challenging for me if im honest. I like the idea of a more agressive intelligent ai, but some of the waves seem absolutely terrifying

    the slow attack waves are nice because contrary to the normal version now it makes sense to capture the locks where in the vanilla version it was just a bad idea to do it

    It's a big deal that the enemy gets less aggro when you control one or more locks! Grant might have had less trouble if he'd known to prioritize that. Maybe an in-game message to let the player know?

    Kinda backwards effect - dev wants the player to get out there and capture locks and not sit in the base too long, but the player sat at the base a bit and got hit, which made him think he is always going to get hit so he doesnt get out there because he is going to get hit. I might interpreting the situation wrong, lemme know if so

    Congrats Rhyme. This is the first time I've ever felt second hand stress from watching someone play a game. I've seen some insane shit over the years but this takes the cake. This mission sucks to play on brutal imo so looks absolutely miserable. well done Grant.

    So, it was fascinating watching as, despite the difficulty, Grant was able to slowly but steadily max out and gain map advantage at a slow but steady rate.

    Nexus overcharge received a huge indirect buff. The enemy sends attack waves at your workers.

    5:34 i'm all for Grant looking if possible and viable it is to clear out the bases is on each mission. I'd guess most of the time answer would be no but maybe it'd give Grant some ideas on how to deal with problems (like maybe find a spot to intercept all the workers trying to proxy)

    Watching the early part of this mission felt like how starcraft should feel. Normally the player feels very plot armored, like 'oh yeah your enemies are this enormous powerful protoss army, but they'll attack you twice with six zealots' - this mission really *felt* like what all the campaigns *tell* you - that you're the plucky underdog trying to take on impossible odds.

    The vanguards were not proxied. They were rallied from main base because Alarak forgot to reset rally point after building observer. Like, you know, the classic case of "scouting vanguard"

    That was SO COOL! Really felt like you're facing against Amon, and how he has all 3 factions at his beck and call. That was terrifying to watch, as someone who plays casually.

    Seeing Grant beat this mission by doing the objective in any modded run always feels like an accomplishment for me, when i tried to beat this on brutal the enemy was so annoying with recapturing the locks it was honestly easier for me to just clear the entire map and ignore the locks.

    After shedding much blood and tears, I was able to make it to all-in on WOL Nightmare before giving up. I don't think I would even be able to make it to Salvation on this difficulty.

    it just occured to me that you could halt that proxy 4 gate from replacing its pylon by building your own pylon there lol this isnt backseating, its just a funny thing to think about doing. "you cant have your gateway proxies, bc *I* powered them!"

    Also warp harmonization. As useful as a nexus attack is, I think being able to reinforce phoenixes directly would have been incredibly helpful here.

    Grants hatred of monoliths crippled him this mission. They were absolutely slaughtering the back door air attacks in conjunction with the nexus overcharge

    feel like the hardest mission are when the vanguards will work with the hybrids so the last mission was still not the hardest i would think

    This is very consistent with the original mission.. If you focus on static defence and let the mission drag on, the attacks become insane, and very very frequent.. If you dont finish this one quickly its all hell breaks loose.. I dunno if its spawning armies AND producing or just producing but they attack like every 1.5m in the original one after a while, with huge armies tanks colossi and everything..

    I feel like mass monolits and some shild batery can be nice aginst it. For mein base. Alos is be nice if as joke energyser boost buildings it is pretty nice co op thing but nerf to 50% of boost and meyby not be op and be good for more build defense around map to prevent enemy build, terran have bunkers and loot of units, zerg have creep ( who sucks when z vs z xd ) and protos have canons, who almost instand die here... and they never have big army to split

    I've played both WOL and HOTS nightmare but this and temple is not nightmare, it's simply too much stress. didn't enjoy it really much.

    I don’t know why you do this to yourself. It’s so painful to watch nightmare difficulty, I just sort of skip through it. If I were actually playing, I’d probably give up after they melted through my base defense before I could get around to pushing out into the map.
