There are a number of petting zoos with easy access around London. Madam Tussaud’s Wax Museum is excellent for wannabe posers where a lot of time can be spent in getting THE perfect shot for social media.

As someone who's father and two brothers served,I know how much bulling is done to uniforms and equipment and because of the position they hold, the guards are subjected to even more scrutiny by their NCOs and Officers. The hours that go in polishing helmets, breast plates and boots is never ending for these guys.

Back in 1982 i was sent to Combermere Bks along with 100 other Royal Navy Medical Branch Ratings to cover thr impending London Ambulance Strike. They took us on a jolly to Knightsbridge Bks,we got to look at the preparations prior to mounting Guard and to be honest i wouldnt want to do it.Bulling a pair of RN boots is one thing but those Dragoon boots are summat else.If anyone gets picked up for theur Uniform or Horse Tack then life is about to become unpleasant for them.Yes we took the piss out of them in the Bar as is the way with Jolly Jack, but we did admire them for all the effort they put in on Ceremonial,i wouldnt last half an hour in that kit especially the Boots.

You probably have noticed the police have to yell at the people to get behind the white line in the courtyard. They won't stay behind any white line without personal enforcement. I never saw such nervey people.
