Barbara Walker published this method in her book, "Knitting from the Top," many years ago. It's always been my go-to provisional caston. Her method uses a slightly different technique in handling the yarn, which makes it one of the fastest ways to cast on, also.

This is great! I have the hardest time with the crochet provisional CO, but this looks easy peasy! Many thanks for another wonderful tip ❤❤

for a beginner it would be nice to see how the the cast on is used and the waste yarn removed.

Even though the process of moving stitches to a knitting needle is not difficult, I can see how it could be a bit confusing. I'll make a tutorial about this topic within the next few weeks. Thank you for the suggestion!

How can I knit the end and the start together (with a round scarf) so that I don't get a seam? Can you please make a video of that?

Hi Fara. If you need to use both sets of stitches right away to work in the round, use the Judy's Magic Cast On method described at www.10rowsaday.com/magic-caston Happy knitting!

Thank you for this video. Could this be used for the beginning of the tubular cast on?

Of course. But it is easier to use the tubular cast on method from the very beginning. Here's a tutorial that explains how to do it - www.10rowsaday.com/italian-caston Happy knitting :-)

This is great! Thank you. I would love to see if it's doable with fingering weight yarn also, or whether it's just too fiddly with that fine of a piece of yarn. But I love it and will be trying it soon!

This method works great with any yarn. I used it even when I was knitting a bracelet with fine knitting wire a while ago. Happy knitting :-)
