Proving Young's Double Slit Interference Equation - IB Physics
Lecture on using the double slit equation to solve problems here: • Solving Problems with ...
I give a derivation of Young's double slit formula. The double slit formula is used to find the pattern that the interference of two light waves create when they pass through double slits in a diffraction grating.
Young's double slit formula connects the distance between two slits in a diffraction grating, the distance from the diffraction grating to the wall, the distance between points of maximum constructive interference, and the wavelength of light.

My IB physics teacher couldn't prove this equation 😅, now I understand it completely. Thanks a lot!
Sharing this to all my friends!!!
Thanks a lot, saved my live, double slit was about to kill me
Thank u too much..I am too much happy with ur explaination ..
Awesome! Thank you for your great lecture!
The video recorder and the light source are using the same electricity power source probably. Thus the light source and recorder are sharing a same informationcommunication channel (the electricity source). Try to use a charged battery powered recorder, this cuts off the information communication channel between the light source and video recorder. Better still, if the light source are also using its own charged self powered different battery source.
God, Still love u Andy
Very helpful thanks
Thanks Andy. Nice video!
For the double slit diffraction equation at the end, the IB formula booklet doesn't include the constant 'n', but yours does. Could you please clarify that? Thanks

your equation assumes that you're looking for the difference from one bright spot to the next possible bright spot. (e.g the distance from the center to the next brightest spot). This would be when n = 1. But what if you wanted to find the difference from the center to the *2nd* next brightest spot? Well then you would times it by 2. In essence, n = 2. So basically his equation considers that you might want to measure across multiple bright spots instead of one (like your equation assumes).
Thanks bro... ❤️
It was an informative lecture but just lost me at the end when the angles came, I did not get the proper concept or reasons for them. I hope someone could explain in little detail or maybe you could make a video on it again.
Why cant we use this equation for diffraction gratings ??
@AndyMasley

Diffraction gratings have more than 2 slits which can add complexity to where the maxima appear.
what programm did you use to make these videos?
Cool!
everybody skips the geometry part😒😢
