I wanted to respond that you were right about the Makita XGT line going on clearance. The few stores around me never really had a proper area for those tools, so I was always under the impression they were on the clearance end caps because they didn’t have assigned section. As time went on, HD has finally dropped the price down to 50% on some of them and I have a feeling it will continue to do so. I grabbed the 80v rotary hammer that was down 500 from 1K and I mainly got it because I was doing concrete work and I need it a dual charger. If I really don’t like it, I will simply get rid of the jack hammer and just keep what I need. But man, XGT is just greedy as hell with their pricing and I don’t know how they are going to survive in the industry. They are not Hilti or even Festool, but they want to act like they are part of that category which they aren’t.

My Atomic DCF921B impact wrench delivers amazing power for its size and has not shown these kinds of quirks. I was going to get into some Dewalt impact drivers, but elected to go over to Ridgid instead due to feedback like this. The new Ridgid 4-mode impact driver seems like a better choice.

The 845 seems particularly wonky, I've never seen it beat an 840 in any tests either which makes me wonder why it exists

If you haven't noticed, dudes aren't cutting and stacking piles of OSB out in the field. As a matter of fact the idea is stupid! Losers make excuses because their tool brand lost. This is the most ridiculous one yet.

DeWalt just can't make a really good impact driver. They should fire their designer. Having said that , they make saome great tools. Am i going to throw them out to buy all new Ridged or Milwaukee ? Not likely. Still haven't used my 845 but i guess i better ! Lol. My old 887 has been doing just fine.
