There is an obvious difference between reciting proverbs and using them spontaneously during conversations. When the latter is involved, you find it easier to use. But having to recall and recite is very difficult. This is a reason you shouldnt insult any yoruba actor or actress that expresses difficulty in this challenge. I salute them all

You’ve spoken my mind. That is exactly right. It’s not something that one simply memorises and downloads in an instant, it’s meant to aid one’s ability to convey a thought. Also, agba ti de fun awon baba so he can be excused. He was a great orator of the Yoruba language in his heyday.

Even yoruba says "Ti oro ba sonu, owe lama fi wa" so proverbs come during conversations to cut the long story short or to explain further to be well explanatory.

I've been waiting to see the great living legends especially Dr Lérè Pàímõ aka 'Ędá Onílé Õlá', alias 'Şõún Ogunlõlá', tí èmi tún mõ wõn sí 'Daddy Dele' awón èyàn Ajímájàsán, Baba Sàlá, Àsàfá(the original Ęlęmõşõ), Brother Dentõ, Antie Nike àti bę bę lõ..... I used to live next to all these great folks back in the days at Yemętu Aládõrin towards Oke Àręmõ. I also featured in that classic movie called "Ògbórí Ęlęmõsõ". Good old days and bless them all.

You’re right. It doesn’t work that way. Proverbs are stored in a region of the brain, applicable and relevant ones jump out of the mouth naturally during conversations to lend solid weight to message being passed across.
