Proton keeps on building on its already impressive cybersecurity suite, but how well does its Password Manager stand up to other market leaders? To help you find that out, I made a quick, yet thorough, Proton Pass review!

Proton Pass is open-source. This implies that Proton Pass' code is open to examination by all users and cybersecurity experts, theoretically providing heightened security and more regular updates. However, in reality, there are plenty of non-open-source password managers that don't seem to be facing security problems.
Overall, Proton Pass has all the key ingredients for great security, but due to lack of experience I can’t put it next to the most trustworthy password managers just yet.

🎯 Proton Pass Features 🎯

It has all the essentials. I was able to save secure information and notes, auto-generate passwords and use its smooth autofill. It didn’t have password sharing for a while, but in October 2023 that misunderstanding was fixed by introducing secure sharing. Unfortunately, there aren’t many extra features, and if we are talking about something really unique, there’s just one: it offers a "Hide my email aliases" feature.

Even beginners will not get lost in Proton Pass apps. Password generation is as simple as it should be, even though it’s under the “Advanced” tab for some reason. Other features are also not overwhelming to use on whichever device you have Proton Pass installed.

⬇️ Final thoughts: Proton Pass vs TOP password managers ⬇️
If Proton Pass wants to match premium password managers, it has plenty of room to improve, starting with more features or at least lowering their price. In the end, when deciding if it’s better value to get NordPass or Proton Pass, I’d have to say it’s NordPass. I would also recommend 1Password instead of Proton Pass, especially if you need a family plan.
