Protecting Blueberries from Birds

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

The birds were a little too greedy with the blueberries this year so we decided to put up some netting. After trying the cheapo bird netting and finding birds getting stuck in it, we decided to replace it with the Dewitt Bird Barricade Deluxe netting: amzn.to/2XJdLd4

    That's the truth! They seem to get worse every year. Doesn't help that the neighbors have a big berry farm so that really attracts them.

    I don't like bird netting. It can tangle up a bird and while I don't want them eating my blueberries I have no intention of harming or killing them trying to deter them. So I bought thin, 6 foot tall poles at Tractor Supply and some wide reflective tape. I have six BB bushes in a row and I used 12 poles with the tape at the top and the middle of each pole and I cut the strips into 18 inch lengths. This has kept the birds off my blueberries without harming them. It was easy to put up and didn't cost all that much to do. So much better than bird netting.

  • @gapey

    @gapey

    Жыл бұрын

    yes I agree the regular bird netting that is commonly sold traps birds and we learned that the hard way. but this bird netting that we use now has never once had a bird get stuck in it. I have had a bird sneak into the blueberries from the corner and get trapped inside the net but never had one get trapped in the net itself since we started using this brand.
