    HAHA eat this victim blamers! I love how this video makes it more about "don't rape people" than "don't get raped" because really the victim had no control and it's not their fault.

    Rape is a crime, everyone knows that and yet some people choose to do it anyway. Wouldn't you think it best to take some sort of preventative measures instead of just hoping that people will be good?

    @@theguywhoisaustralian1465 there is no way to "avoid" being raped because people should fucking have to do these things that 'apparently' lessen your chances if being raped. its false. the rapists are the ones that should not be raping. not the victims/ survivors having to not enjoy themselves to avoid being assaulted. which ISNT THEIR FAULT !

    I have never taken a class on how not to force people to do things they don’t want to. I just lived life, and that was enough. Just like I wouldn’t force someone to drink a cup of tea, I wouldn’t force someone to do.. that. And if I DID force someone to drink a cup of tea, I should go to jail. No buddy needed.

    You know...I'm not completely sure if this video is trolling the victim blamers, or if it is making fun of the "teach boys not to rape" crowd. Here's the thing...nobody EVER said to me, "You know, it's important not to rape people." Nope. Not even once. Like most other normal humans I learned how to interact with others by watching my parents. Dad never raped anyone. In fact dad was always careful to be respectful of the personal space of others, especially women, and double especially young women. Nobody ever said "Don't rape people" though.

    Nice video! Next, you should make one that satirizes "murder culture" and teaches us all that murder is wrong! Oh wait, we all already know that, just like we all know rape is evil. Taking steps to prevent yourself from being a victim isn't "playing into rape culture". It's just good sense.

  • @rachelannbrian

    @rachelannbrian

    Unfortunately, we don't all know rape is evil (or perhaps don't consider ourselves rapists when we are). 32% of male college students said they would force someone to have sex... though only 13.6% said they would rape someone. (www.newsweek.com/campus-rapists-and-semantics-297463) Many people think that dark alleys and lurking strangers are the issue (like the car analogy below), but in fact, in more than 85% of cases in college the victims know the attacker, in many cases they are an intimate partner. (nij.gov/topics/crime/rape-sexual-violence/campus/Pages/know-attacker.aspx) Murder is also bad, and if 1 in 5 people was getting murdered, I'd say that would be a "murder culture".

    Truth be told: There is always a reason why you were the victim. This does not mean that the perpetrator doesn‘t carry 100% of the blame for the attack. It is important to understand and to accept that certain behavior will make you an easier victim. This isn‘t about shaming the victim, but about showing people that with just a few little steps they can become a much harder victim, and sometimes all you need is not being the easiest victim. If you can‘t accept that you are responsible for your own safety, you‘ll never be truly safe.

  • @jaysbaddecisions

    @jaysbaddecisions

    2 жыл бұрын

    bro what ?? none of that is true. this idea is fully just victim blaming why should someone not be able to live their life because it makes them 'an easier victim'. this is like 101 rape culture and the people will claim rape culture doesnt exist. because im sure one of the things on your list of "an easier victim" is just 'being a woman', 'not being over 6"0" or generally wanting to go out and enjoy yourself sometimes even with alcohol!!😮

    I kinda hate this. We have gotten so focused on not offending anyone that we have veered away from common sense safe practices. I could use most of these safe prevention methods and use them as a guide to not getting murdered at night. Avoid shady parts of town, stay with a buddy, don't wander around drunk. If someone gave me that advice to not get murdered I would not think they were blaming me at all, they are reminding me to be safe because there are horrible people out there. Is it right that we need these protections and reminders? No it sucks but it is the reality that a portion of our population is scum. Is worrying about victim blaming going to help the problem? No.

  • @jaysbaddecisions

    @jaysbaddecisions

    2 жыл бұрын

    yes it is going to help. it will help not to gaslight a victim into thinking its their fault they got raped or assaulted. and if you saw in the news that someone got murdered at night would your first thought be "shouldnt have been on your own at night". no. because victim blaming culture isnt as prevalent with murder. because we understand more the murderer is the one at fault. and theres no way a victim/ survivor can prevent it

    @@jaysbaddecisions This was a long time ago, however I believe what I am saying is that giving warnings is not inherently the same as blaming someone or setting them up to be blamed. I am totally against victim blaming and think that it can be pretty vile and understand that that happens. However I think that is a different argument where part of the population needs to stop blaming victims all together. Not having safety guidelines won't solve that problem. I think my main point is that personally I would like to stop victims from even becoming victims in the first place so there won't be anyone to gaslight. That would require an all encompassing approach that would probably would include a safe practices guide for women....as well as better screening and tracking of domestic abusers, better education for young men, and trying to stop the rapists from becoming racist as well as better resources for women to take advantage of in cases where family or friends the rapist. Obviously this isn't on women to solve. At the same time they should know how to protect themselves until the problems with men are addressed.
