how do you feel about the new policy's they are bring in and forcing users to create a account and all your data is uploaded to there cloud. And there T&C says they can share that data with third party?

Thank you! There are really only 3 options: Logitech CircleView, The Eufy 2C or the Eve Floodlight Camera. All 3 have their pros & cons.

They really need a separate audio alarm, just having it in the cameras is annoying. I've already got a few Hue motion sensors so I've already set it up but right now all it can do is flash the lights.

I've already ordered a 2 pack for my front/backdoor, I'm curious how they work. I do have an issue with the fact that I am basically maxed out with my hub, I may need a secondary one. My entire house, every single light and switch is Hue For cameras I don't know if it's worth it, I went with Tp-link and their commercial line because of the simplicity of POE.

These cameras were a pretty big disappointment and not even worth my time (as far as doing a review). I wouldn’t bother.

The notifications on phone do not work yet with my motion sensors. I have all the notifications on and restarted by bridge. How to fix this?

Notifications from the motion sensor started working on my newer iPad 1 day after "arming" the security alerts. However, notifications still don't work on my iPhone 7 yet.

This is CRAZY and I’m very excited to give it a try! Yeah there will definitely be some cons such as the power cable, 1080p, and no HomeKit, but I think it working well in the Philips Hue ecosystem will be a major win! Philips Hue has always been my go to since day one. I used to have their lights work with my OG nest secure alarm and flash red upon activation. Cool stuff as always from Philips Hue.

Nest is definitely a better value as it stands now.

Absolutely love Philip Hue lights. Tried another brand once. Big mistake. As for the security stand point I found I'm not impressed with their motion sensors because as with most (if not all) motion/presence sensors they're lacking the ability to differentiate between human and animal. So I tend not to use them (I believe I have a couple laying in a drawer somewhere). And being in the security industry for over 30 years I tend to agree that if it's not bolted down it can (and likely will be) stolen. Same with exposed wires being way to easy to cut.

It needs an auto alarm function. Not the take action step. Also should auto arm when you leave using the location function

I'm surprised it has no Apple HomeKit from start, since Hue has had it for a while, maybe even their beginning. I also have Hue lights and I've been happy with them for years, since they work excellent with my Apple HomeKit environment home.. so I think this would be a hard pass for now until full integration possible. Too bad, because I am now finally (seriously) considering getting home surveillance and I want something that will work well with my "smart" home system.

I’m surprised too & I’m with you. But in their defense, they at least have it in mind with the MATTER integration. It’s not Hue’s fault cameras aren’t an included MATTER category….YET. Let’s hope they know something we don’t & that will be changing soon.

Yeah I was waiting for some different HomeKit cameras but I just gave up. I got Reolink cameras which are better anyway, 4k etc. I’ll just go the unsupported route and use scrypted to get them in HomeKit. Just sucks cuz I’m tired of tinkering and was hoping for a native option soon.

Quite expensive for only getting 1080p, and you still have to buy a hub, plus you still have to pay for cloud storage? Yeah that's an easy pass for me. I am looking to get passed all these subscriptions base cameras so not worth it to me.

I don’t blame you. I’m hoping something about these cameras will really set them apart for that price, but I’m not sure what that would be, after watching their presentation. Seems like they are just really proud of the Hue name & think they can charge you based on that…but I guess we’ll find out in a couple weeks. As a KZreadr, I’m going to have to at least try one.

I love you, and your content my brother. BUT it's highly overpriced too. TBH i have the lights because they are dependable even when the ISP starts hiccuping my internet service. THe lack of compatibility, storage, etc... naw ty, I will stick with what I got

I 100% agree. I’m going to try them because as a KZreadr, I feel I should. If I wasn’t, I’d be on the fence, even as a OG lover of Hue. I’ll reserve judgement until I get my hands on them, but they are going to have to be pretty special for the price & lack of compatibility.

@@GeorgeLangabeer and that’s why I appreciate your content so much. If I have question about a new product I consult your channel among a few others to see what you have to say about it. I have found we have similar opinions on the smart home world. The only thing I look for is the versatility of home bridge or like products to become an “on a store shelf” setting to be able to add more variables of how and when a routine is ran. I believe this is the biggest part missing in smart home tech, besides full cross compatibility. Among all the products like “matter” is suppose to be doing.

I’d say the Philips Hue Security Camera and sensors are the exact clone of the Ring security system only it’s the crude version of the copycat. It’s a bare catchup yet not fully integrated into a sophisticated security system. Seems like their prime objective is to enhance the ergonomic and aesthetic factors of their system to look good, rather than focusing on the functionality and features aspects of the security system. The floodlight camera looks a bit too primitive, as if it’s a prototype device at the very first stage of its development in late 70s or early 80s. The orientation of the floodlight probably is going to be rather fixed to one direction. Again it’s the crude copycat of the Ring security system. And if you install the camera outside, how are you going to hear the audible alarm inside the house while sleeping, since the camera is the only device that can emit the sound alarm?

-5 in Minnesota; 4 months battery lasted 14 hours lmao, camera will not function under 10 degrees Fahrenheit. Not an all weather camera, more like an indoor camera. Disappointed so far, took a step to the side out of my home kit video for the name. Wrong choice for me. Alarms I can make automations for, no facial recognition, they should stick to lights. I’m gonna put my cam in a box and tuck it away cause at the price point and lack of ability in the camera it would last long

Sorry to hear you’ve had such a negative experience. I’ve heard a lot of the same from others too. I’ve got one sitting here to test and at this point I don’t think it’s even worth it. It’s a real shame. They do lights so well, they surely could have done better with these cameras.

Hugeeee miss not being compatible with HomeKit.

Yeah lost me right there. Could have back doored it through the hue bridge but oh well. Thought I could finally replace these nest cameras. Google is the worst.

No HomeKit camera integration is a hard pass. Too many other options available at this time. Too little, too late. I may buy some motion sensors and light integration if it works with HomeKit.

4:23 one thing… NEVER buy something with the promise that down the line it’ll support something. We currently don’t know the requirements for camera matter support. It may not even be possible to bring those new cameras into that protocol.

I agree with you…but I will say, Hue has 100% confirmed that MATTER compatibility is coming to the Hue Bridge later this month. The key features for these cameras require the Hue Bridge. So once cameras are a MATTER category (and they will be sooner than later), they will be compatible. But again, just to clarify, the cameras will be “HomeKit Compatible”, not HomeKit Secure Video compatible. So they will gain the Apple TV & HomePod features HomeKit compatibility provides, but they won’t have the recording options HKSV provides.

I 100% agree. Entering the security camera game in 2023, at 1080p, is a big bummer indeed. The other features, build quality & overall performance are all going to have to blow me away to truly make these worth it.

For a lowly 1080p camera, they are way over priced. Eufy makes a 2K HomeKit camera for $60 and they are reliable and work fine.

These cameras will definitely have to make up for the 1080p resolution with features and build quality, but we’ll see. Eufy’s $60 2k camera is indoor only and very cheaply made, not to mention the privacy concerns. Eufy could care less about you as a human being, at least Hue has privacy top-of-mind.

The price for the camera is an absolute insulting joke and rip off. I am totally shocked. Philips can go and f themselves, seriously. 200€ for a camera of this quality. Philips Hue is expensive but the camera... just WOW! Cameras for other systems cost 50€ and Philips? -> 200€ They cannot be serious, what a rip off company.

This is TERRIBLE, 1080p in 2023. Definitely OUT OF TOUCH which the market Theyre supposed to serve 😢 awful lineup
