Prostatic Artery Embolization | New Outpatient Treatment for Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia Webinar

Ғылым және технология

Enlarged prostate, also known as benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), is a common urological condition known to cause a range of urinary problems. Fortunately, the Prostatic Artery Embolization (PAE) procedure is a minimally invasive outpatient procedure used to successfully treat BPH with lower risk of urinary incontinence and sexual side effects, when compared with more invasive surgical procedures. Interventional radiology expert, Dr. Brian Holly, discusses the procedure and how it may be the solution you are looking for.
To request an appointment, please call 410-502-6611 or visit bit.ly/HopkinsPAE.

    this is an excellent video. I have reviewed numerous KZread videos covering everything from turp to eurolift. This is the procedure that I feel is best for me at age 78 and not wanting to be tied down waiting several weeks for healing and removal of a catheter. however, my urologist is a traditionalist and is not open to getting PAE. I’m going to need to find a local interventional radiologist who wants to take my case on. I hope I don’t have to lose my urology practitioner. However, my comfort is of upmost importance.

    In doing PAE is it always necessary to use dyes to highlight blood vessels?

    Dear Doctor: Assuming a patient with BPH has the PAE procedure and his prostate shrinks by 25% over time, does the prostate remain this reduced size or do you find that it later resumes growing?

    I was told by a urologist that you can have any procedure subsequent to the PAE, which is a benefit to this procedure.

    My husband isn't able physically to have other procedures for prostate. This was a only & last option. He had it yesterday at another facility, as we live out of state. Hoping it will help some at least! The meds drop his BP, but he takes them

    I have significant urine retention. I have a lobe from the prostate up in my bladder. Can PAE treat that lobe along with the prostate itself or does it rule PAE out? 1/2/2024

    I just had mine done & it was without incident. Other than feeling like I had an ostrich egg up my bum the first day, I never used Pyridium or naproxen. Steroids and antibiotics were all I needed. One month out I’m noticing improvement. Be advised, my insurance was billed $24,750! Ouch!

    Are grams equivalent to CCs in the prostate? My MRI said how many CCs my prostate was, but I would think it to be hard to say how many grams it weighed in a living person. Anyone know the answer?

  • @seascape35

    @seascape35

    20 күн бұрын

    Yes to your first question. I have researched this for my own prostate. Basically, each gram in weight of water at a certain temperature is equal to one CC in volume. The prostate is more than water, but close enough for practical purposes of comparisons. So, if your prostate is 70 CC on the MRI, it weighs about 70 grams, more or less. Urologists will use these measurements interchangeably.

    Don't do this! Prostate Arterial Embolization DOES NOT WORK!! I had it done at the City of Hope in California. It didn't shrink my prostate at all. All my LUTS symptoms continued and even got worse. I'm trying the iTind Procedure which boasts a much higher success rate than PAE.

    Had my done May 23. 2024. It's been less than 2 months and I am very pleased with the results. Perhaps your doctor didn't do a good job or perhaps it's just your body. Some people can't even take an aspirin. Best of luck to you.
