Prosecuting Trump: Balancing Justice and Unity - David Blight & Rich Lowry | Intelligence Squared
In this extract from our 2022 debate 'Prosecute Trump', Professor David Blight and Rich Lowry, discuss the timely question of whether former President Donald Trump should be prosecuted for potential violations of the Espionage Act and his role in the events leading up to January 6. The recent FBI search of Trump's Florida home has ignited a heated discussion about accountability, democracy, and the future of American institutions. Professor Blight argues for prosecution as a means to protect democracy and historical precedent, while Rich Lowry raises concerns about the legal challenges and potential divisive consequences of such action. Explore the nuances of this crucial debate as these experts present their cases on the Intelligence Squared stage. Which side do you agree with? Lowry has always been a useless twerp. His mind is psuedo intellectual mush.
Listening to this as I went about my business, it sounded like a debate between Rich Lowry and Indiana Jones. I like Lowry well enough, but that is not an even matchup.

Blight sounds like Harrison Ford, it’s uncanny. I love it
Heirs and Angels knows the voice? Becareful! Why?
It seems that Rich is saying that as long as you're a raging narcissist, you can do whatever you want. I think it is possible that Trump thought he could not lose. I think it is possible that Trump thinks he is the smartest most capable person that ever lived. I don't know the law, but I do believe the law was not written for the biggest narcissist that has ever lived.
Processing Trump will splinter the Military, the unintended consequences will most certainly trickle down, not up. Those who enjoy qualified immunity on one day will wake up the next without it.
Is it being a conservative repUGLYcan a crime?
When are we going after any other crooked politician...Trump seems to be the only target at the moment....so if he's the one the swamp is scared of he has my vote for that alone....

Only the sycophantic Republicans are scared of Trump. He's the only one because he is the only one grifting the USA for all its worth. Don't confuse the only one with the chosen one.

No one is scared of him he’s just sloppy and thinks he can get away with it (Which he has his entire life). Turns out ex presidents are not above the law. If the “swamp” really felt threatened by him it’d be pretty easy to buy him off. Money and self gratification are his main motives with anything he’s done so far.

Prosecuting Trump: How America became a Banana Republic.

Obviously you don't know what a Banana republic is. a small nation, especially in Central America, dependent on one crop or the influx of foreign capital. Ironic how you demonstrate your lack of intelligence, on a post at intelligence squared.

America will become.a banana republic if it fails to prosecute trump's alleged crimes. I would argue Gerald ford's pardoning of Nixon has indirectly led us to this moment
