clear aligners can also be an option for patients with implants! So you can move all the other teeth, where you would struggle to treat with braces!

Clear aligner therapy does facilitate dental implant planning. Thanks for sharing.

Dr. Bailey, I am a 68 year old who has decided to start an Aligner treatment. I was referred by my dentist to an orthodontist (his cousin) who uses the Invisalign brand. Since my consultation I have been educating myself on other aligner options and the Spark Aligners sound very appealing (does not stain & more comfortable at gum line). Before I make this very important and expensive decision (Invisalign or Spark aligners), I would like to know your opinion on using the Spark brand of aligners. Thank you !

Great question. Spark is a reputable brand of aligners. Keep in mind that aligners are the tools of skilled clinicians. Asking for referrals from family and friends and seeing before and after cases that are similar to your condition are great ways to help you make an informed decision. Good luck 🍀

I love your videos !! I’m on my 20th tray now and my doctor said now I’m getting rubber bands 😕 because my upper teeth are now moved forward or out ? So now they have to be push back in ... hopefully it won’t be painful

What gram force or Newtons is associated with various levels of activation/movements on the incisors for translation and tipping? For example if you are moving the central incisor lingually 0.5 mm/tray in translation what would that associated gram force be? what would that be for lingual tipping?

Light continuous forces are best on lower incisors, which require less force compared to the other teeth. This may help: www.ajodo.org/article/S0889-5406(19)30593-1/fulltext

I've got a question, which might be a good topic for a video. How do elastics work, from a physiological perspective, to correct bites? When a bite is corrected, is it usually permanent, or are elastics used with retainers post-treatment? After a bite is corrected, are there any "dos and don'ts"? Thank you in advance!

Good questions. I have posted couple of videos that address your questions. One is on rubber bands and the other is on retainers.

Hello I have 2 teeth missing on the bottom one on the left and one on the right . I was wondering what would you suggest if I should get braces or the clear liners . I just would like to get a feel on what I should do :)

Hi there, it sounds like you have a specific question. It’s difficult to give advice without any patient records. I would recommend that you schedule an orthodontic appointment to get evaluated. Braces and clear aligners have their pros and cons and the orthodontist can let you know which is better for your case. Good luck.

Hi Dr. Bailey. I am on the Invisalign treatment ,currently wearing my 7th tray. I have been disciplined wearing my trays, and thorough with my hygiene. Treatment seems to be working properly, and I can tell my teeth are moving according to my trays, but have noticed that my teeth have turned kind of yellow, and the attachments have stained. Is it normal? My first appointment with my orthodontist after being within the treatment is next week.

Yes, some patients get more staining than others. It depends on your diet and whether you smoke. Coffee, wine, tea, tumeric, nicotine smoke, and highly pigmented foods are all culprits.

I bought for myself from Walgreens, a cleanser kit that is a dental bath for when I go out to eat with friends, I would have the cleanser kit and a small bottle of water in a backpack. When we sit down at a restaurant, I would put my invisalign in the dental bath with some water. The water, so the invisalign wouldn't taste so bad when I put it back into my mouth. ( All because of Covid, it's hard sometime to find a clean restroom ).

what is your opinion on at home aligners such as byte?

  • @TrayMinder

Never used it. Read the fine print and make sure you are aware what treatment includes and what it does not. Questions to consider: alignment only or does it include bite correction with elastics? Attachments? IPR by doctor if needed? Does it include refinements if you’re not happy? Retainers? Access to orthodontist?

I have short roots but the orthos in my city all say I'm not a candidate for invisalign. Is it because invisalign is not suitable for surgery or class III case??

  • @TrayMinder

It’s hard to say without an exam in person. Surgical cases can be done with aligners but most surgeons prefer braces and bands.

Hi! I'm on my second set of trays. I feel like when I remove my aligners to eat something, my bite feels off and my bottom canines touch my upper ones, it's uncomfortable. Is this normal? (With the trays in, my bite is alright)

Ehm.. i have a question. It's not related to the video but, i going to ask anyways. My bottom front teeth is touching the back of my upper front teeth when I bite. I want to know what to do. Edit: maybe this is normal and I'm just stupid but I'mma ask anyways

  • @TrayMinder

In a normal bite, what you’re describing is normal as long as your front teeth are gently touching and your back teeth are also touching when you bite down. During ortho treatment, the bite can feel different.

Mine were touching too and it drove me nuts as it was something new. My aligners have corrected this, thank God.
