Yarmouth is awful, same for Hyannis. Let's talk Osterville👍 Seafood? Not many on CC have the know how. On the bright side, nice clip.

Always visit there. In the old days when it was more seasonal I and friends were able to rent cottage there on off season. We went at the beginning of May instead of the traditional opening weekend of Memorial Day Weekend. It cost us 5 bucks each to rent out the cottage for the whole weekend! Those were the days!

The Good and Bad of Cape Cod...I grew up there so I KNOW!!! The GOOD is a week After Labor day until June 15th... The Bad and often Ugly is June 16th to Labor Day When the rest of the known world tries to SQUEEZE unto the Cape... The two bridges are mostly IMPASSIBLE between 5AM till 11AM and 3PM till 7PM during the summer... Some Townies take a boat to work on the mainland !!! The bridge Rotaries are Really Dangerous--- no one gives anyone the right of way, tries to fly around the rotaries between 40 and fifty MPH after waiting an hour in stop and go bottleneck traffic just to get on the bridge... The traffic lanes are so narrow on the bridge that your motorhome will take up 1 1/2 lanes!!! The small towns off the main roads are just delightful...And we townies want them to ourselves! many town beaches are closed to tourists :) :) Yea !!! ((tourists must buy a beach pass for $50 for a week!!)) The old sign on the Bourne Bridge says....Welcome to Bourne... Please Don't stop>>> Spend all your money ,,, when you leave, PLEEEEEEASE take a Kennedy with you!!! :) :)

Yeah, I agree 1000%. My wife and I are super excited that tourism season is over...I couldn't even go to my favorite bakery because the line was to the street no matter what time we went.

Just be glad it is not the Cross Bronx Expressway and all the bridges to cross to get there($$) or the Long Island Expressway! It is hell compared to Cape Cod.

Everyone loves the summer on the cape, but the winter activities are a thrill also. Unemployment, depression, alcohol and drug use, and we are adding shootings to the list.

Yup, unfortunately your right about that. It’s a part of the cape that tourists never get to see but I spent every summer there since I was a baby that my grandfather built. As I grew up a made close friends with some local kids and one being my very best friend. It gets really depressing in the winter and there is a feeling of hopelessness there. I had to cut ties with all of them when I was 20 because the great fun kids I grew up tubing and jumping off the boardwalk with starting to be heavily into drugs. Either dealing, doing it, or both. Heroin crept in about 2003 and after that it was downhill. I know my best friend went to jail and I’m pretty sure a lot of the others might not be alive anymore

Thank you for sharing your perspective, Dan. That's a very sad aspect for sure.

I lived there 20 years ago for 19 years. It was going down hill back then in the 90's early 2000's. Tourism was a problem, it drove up prices on everything even off season. Houses are over priced and last I looked the average Rent is $1,200 a month minus utilities for a basement apartment or room to rent. Most of the Cape lost it's small town charm. Being over populated and over built. The only plus was the Fishing, Salt and Fresh. Not worth moving back there though.

Cape Cod is overrated. It truly is grey, dreary, and isolated. I lived there for almost 30 years and was ecstatic to leave . No regrets, there is NOTHING to miss.

Thanks for the comment. I have never lived there full-time and I'm sure that changes things. That being said, I love being down there. During the beginning of Covid, my wife and I lived full-time in our vacation home for 5 months. I wouldn't have traded that experience for the world. I respect your insight however.

I agree. I love the Cape, but I could predict anywhere would get old after 30 years.

I grew up in South Dennis part-time and now am lucky enough to own a place in Wellfleet. Every town has its own special charm!

Whats it like for a foreigner getting a rental property as I will obviously have no credit rating? I was just granted a greencard and have a job in cape cod.

I've been going to scusset Beach since 1990 but you cant ignore the fact there is a huge heroin problem on the cape

Drugs can definitely be an issue, especially in the offseason. That being said, there's a lot of beauty and public safety remains strong.

If you have a family and any sanity left, don’t move here. You be stuck serving the wealthy at minimum wage.

People LIVE HERE. Not everyone here is on vacation. Learn to drive on a rotary!
