Great follow up interview. I'm from Nor Cal. People get conditioned to the fast pace / everything at there their fingertips type of lifestyle in California. LIke it or not, you have to condition yourself to your new environment in whatever state or country you move too. I'm glad you did this interview because its a cautionary tale to rent for one year in the location you think you want to live in. Not everything that glitters is gold.

Emmett is great for the right people. I’m a huge fan of the highlands, I love the mid century homes.

Great video of an honest experience from a relocating family. More of these interview videos might help someone sit back and think a bit more on moving or just considering relocation. 👍

Yep… that’s the goal. Better to learn this from a KZread video then having to learn it yourself by going through the process. Relocating isn’t easy.

Excellent video. With the river running through the town and a big lake near by- has Emmett ever been flooded out or is that a problem?

Emmett’s got the Payette River and a reservoir upstream, so it’s set up to handle water pretty well. There might be some minor runoff from time to time, but as far as I know, the town hasn’t had any major flooding issues.

They are moving over the hill closer to eagle and Meridian so they don’t have to make the commute. He did mention it towards the end of the video. Where are you watching from?

Ungrateful Californians need to go back home

Hi, I have a small family, Wife, daughter and potentially a father in-law that are looking at moving to Idaho from Palm Springs CA. We are specifically looking at Fruit land Idaho due to it bordering Oregon. I am originally from Beaverton Oregon and my wife and her family is originally from Palm Springs. This might be stating the obvious, but Emmett is extremely conservative politically, even by the standards of Idaho. It's also very homogeneous. If the couple you were interviewing was black, brown and/or gay, they might not be rhapsodizing about the friendliness of their neighbors. But most people considering a move there are probably looking for like-minded folks. Also, they are improving access to Emmett with some new-road construction, so it'll be easier to get to and from the Treasure Valley.

We are looking to move to Emmett in late May early June and want to rent first! Is this something you can help with 🥰

I live in Boise/Treasure Valley and I would love to have better public transportation and think a rail line between Nampa/Caldwell to Mountain Home would be great. I actually had a conversation with someone who worked in city planning and development. He offered a realistic perspective stating that collectively the Treasurer Valley was currently around 1 million people. He said it would need to be closer to 2.5 million before the cost of a rail system would be a viable option. Since most people prefer Idaho because it isn’t over populated, I don’t know that we would see a public rail system around here anytime soon.

I'm moving to Idaho, or maybe Texas, as soon as I serve out my probation in CA. Want a place with lower crime.
