I do miss our Brahma ladies they passed away last year. We had a Buff Brahma named Luna, who was my middle daughter's therapy bird. It was amazing how Luna could get Magpie to calm down and focus. Thank you for sharing the video of your flock.

LOVE the patterns on the brown grrrl's chest feathers! Gorgeous! Made me laugh when You pointed out their poop is twice as big too!! 😂 They certainly are georgeous! Thank You for sharing more of Your wealth with us Miss Ally!! You are such a sweet heart!! No wonder You are drawn to such sweet animals as chinnies, bunnies & chickens! I Loved my Muscovy ducks!! They have pros & cons too but if You have a pond for them & room for them to be safe, they are my favorite egg producing fowl; though yes I know they don't produce prolifically but when each egg is 2-3 eggs 😉☺️ a couple Muscovies works fine for a small family. They are very much like a dog when it comes to them wanting to hang with You while You are in their area. I saw mine catch & try to eat a very large garter snake one time!! I was able to rescue the snake & pray that it lived but she was hot on it & would have eaten it if I hadn't intervened. They have great & friendly personalities but the boys can be dangerous when mature for everyone as they are aggressive about having sex... with Everyone 😢 Having the females only is best for me. YOU ROCK Miss Ally!! Sending Real Love & Big Warm Virtual HUGS!!

I've never owned Muscovys but I have heard that they are fantastic ducks to keep. I only have a few of large breed ducks now ,buff orpintons and Welsh harlequins. I mostly have call ducks now that are a lot smaller but make twice the amount of noise as my larger ducks.

@@AllysAnimalAntics HAHAHAHA on the noisy ones Ally!! That is another adorable thing about the muscovies!! They come running when You come out to visit with their lil beaks just flapping & flapping with their quiet lil air escaping not quacking! SOOO cute!! Though they will eat anything they can catch & they liked blackberries, they would never eat them on their own; but when I came out to pick & eat, they would stand there begging like dogs & gobble them down when I gave them one!! SOOOO cute! I moved to the city so had to re-home them 🥺 I keep trying to move somewhere on the slue that runs through our town so I can have some again. But no luck so far. Ahhhh I had a great life! Time to rest & reflect not start new adventures anymore. 😊🤗

I've been warned! LOL. Dog pads on the floor; diapers in XXL, standard dog stroller. Lots of forage time. Likely she will go to to local flea markets, arts and harvest festivals; she likely will spend a handful of nights camping. She will have a garden here to help with, as well as a compost pile. I've had chickens a lot of my life, either singles or flocks. One particular hen played card games, identified ball colors, rang bells. If we weren't teaching her tricks she was exploring and getting into things with vigor; but If she could learn new tricks for treats, she'd jump at the chance. She was a motivated "performer" and loved the accolades. Most crowds were astonished she could pick a particular card from a deck; but that's actually a pretty easy trick. She performed at a Del Mar Pet Show in an event that had mostly dogs; and took second place for her card trick, and playing scales on a little piano. Extra points for both she and the dog who took first, as he had to perform with her sitting quietly five feet away; and she had to sit quietly in a crowd next to a huge performing dog. They both got applause for that one. The dog was FOCUSED and did not look at the chicken until he was cued that he was done. 👍👍👏👏

Have been breeding brahmas since 2019, never had an aggressive rooster and they seem not to like crowing, the ladies lay lots of eggs in winter and at 1 point I had all of my 20 hens broody and hatched over 100 chicks

Brahmas are adorable. After having a flock of Marans and Golden Comets for a few years in the mid Atlantic, we started a new flock in Florida last year, and included a light and dark Brahma hen in our group of one dozen girls. While I agree that they are very docile in temperament, they are more skittish than our Orpingtons and Amaracaunas, but not as skittish as the Wyandotte or Australorp. Regretfully, our Light Brahma developed a debilitating squamous cell tumor on her wing at 11 months and we had to cull her as she became lame and her flockmates started to bully her😢. She was a beautiful girl

Thank you! I've had Orpingtons for years and as my head hen just finally passed, I've gone and ordered half a dozen new babies. 3 of them are buff orpingtons and 3 are buff Brahmas. I've heard nothing but good things about Brahmas and can't wait to raise my own :) Can I ask - Is your Brahma rooster loud? I've heard they don't crow a lot

It depends a single cockerel shouldn't crow that much just in the morning and also when they are hungry. I own two cockerels which are a bit noisier as they spend most of their day trying to out crow each other 🙂
