This video is about Pros and Cons of Cary North Carolina, which we discuss while we enjoyed KitFest in Bond Park. We discuss the Pros and Cons of living in North Carolina, what our thought process was when we considered the question, should you move to North Carolina?
The Annual Kite Fest in Cary, at Bond Park, was unexpectedly awesome! Families were everywhere enjoying the blustery sunny day at this free event.
Tracy and I reflected on why Cary is arguably the best place to live in North Carolina, arguably the best town outside of Raleigh and certainly in the top 10 places to live in the US.
Some of the topics we reviewed were looking at the best cities to live in North Carolina when we decided to move from Atlanta. We looked at the Best reasons to live in the Triangle as we evaluated many other national lists.
There were a number of factors we considered. The key for us was the strong job market and the many technology companies in the area.
North Carolina, the good and bad is what we have embraced. Should you move to North Carolina? Are you a fan of the Blue Devils, the Tarheels, ACC Basketball? Duke vs. North Carolina in basketball or in general are always topics of conversation here.
These could be reasons for you to live here. We settled on one of the best towns you can live in outside of Raleigh to make our home.
Watch our video and if you are moving to North Carolina, or considering it. Kite Fest Cary North Carolina is an awesome kite fest and certainly indicative of a great place to live. Of course, you'll have to make the best decision for you and your family. Good Luck!

Pros/cons If you play a sport for the town of cary, you know everyone. Everyone is very nice. One time I lost my wallet at the grocery store and 2 days later when I went to get it back it was still there with everything in it. You see the same people a lot. Random weather. One moment it can be sunny and warm and the next it'll be snowing. Overall its pretty good.

I'm from north Florida and I loathe Cary. I've lived here for over a year. +Southern Hospitality +Short drives as there are many shopping/restaurant areas to buy or eat what you want. -Roads have lots of potholes, no reflectors, very few streetlights. Driving on a rainy night is terrifying. -Drivers are the worst of any of the 4 states I've lived in. Really bad. -Infrastructure sucks ass (water pipes bursting a lot, power outages). The government here is pathetic at keeping things maintained (Cary-owned roads are fine, state roads are not). -Urbb

I from north FL. I hate Cary. I've lived here for over a year. +Southern hospitality +Short drives (10 min or less) to get most things. If you drive more than 10 minutes, chances are you're looking for a specific store/restaurant. +Raleigh/Durham are 20-30 minutes away (downtown, anyway) for any city-ish stuff you want. +Lots of parks, 2-3 hours from coast or mountains (if you're outdoorsy). +More moderate temperatures than FL and less humidity. +Very low crime rate. -Drivers here are retarded, worst out of the 4 states I've lived in. The friendly natives will try to let people in but many times it's on a >2 lane road meaning they're just as likely to cause an collision as let someone out safely. Drivers cut corners way too much when turning left and pull out too far when waiting to turn onto a road. -Public infrastructure sucks: water pipes busting, not enough lanes for traffic demand, electricity outages. Roads have lots of potholes, no reflectors, faded and nonreflective lines, and not nearly enough streetlamps. Driving on a rainy night is terrifying because you can't even see the damn lanes. Cary-owned roads are maintained way better than state roads. -Urban sprawl. -***Rude and retarded Rust Belt immigrants.*** -Cary is expensive to live in. Morrisville and Apex are similar but cheaper.

Emma I live in FV and I love it here, we have two downtowns and yes the area is building like crazy both in homes and apartments. the great thing about FV is how close you are to everything. Im a straight shot to downtown Raleigh, Im 30min from Durham, 40min from Chapel Hill, 1hr from the beaches, and 3hrs from the mountains. Its a great place to raise a family and great for young professionals, especially with kids. We have two Splash Pads for the kids during the summer months, we have a nearby minor league baseball team in Holly Springs, and they are building more restaurants and having more of a night life for young professionals to connect. There are a lot of parks and lakes nearby and walking trails. Very safe area for period. Hope this helps.

Clayton is about 20 minutes outside of Raleigh. I believe south of the city and is growing due to affordability. Still great proximity to RTP and downtown.

Sorry for the delay in responding here. Greensboro is cool. We have a little family out there and friends that went to North Carolina A&T. Easy to get to Charlotte, Raleigh and the mountains from there. Raleigh is closer to the beach but Greensboro works 😉

@@HeathandTracyTV-- Just one final inquiry please. I'm aware of the Del Webb Communitues. My understanding has been that they are "NOT" necessarily diversity/multi-ethnic friendly. In other words geared toward and marketed to the Caucasian community. Is it your "thinking" that "ALL" are welcomed?? THANK YOU

In NC Cary is more diverse. We didn’t live far from the neighborhood I am referring to and the people there are very inclusive. If you didn’t want to live in that specific neighborhood there are still plenty of homes in that area. Amberly in Cary in directly across the street which is very diverse also. These are in the Green Level Church area 27519 area code. We felt was more diverse than most places or there than Durham. Maybe because of its proximity to Durham. The neighborhood across the street from the Del Webb neighborhood is 80% Asian Indian. So it’s not as you think.

Download the following apps and turn on notifications. Trulia, Zillow and Realtor. These are best if you are looking for a single family home. Also get a Realtor to help. That works really well. Where are trying to move?

You don’t pay anything for a Realtor in NC. It’s not like NY. Check Henry Property Management. They are great and may have some homes in Cary. Right now it’s hard and there will be multiple offers. So just stay on it and patient. You may want to try a roommate situation first before renting. You will need to have a job to do a rental anywhere. Good Luck and stay positive.

$300,000 is not affordable for a house, especially a newlywed couple or small family starting out with todays low salary. Such as teacher and a fireman. Your are not gonna make it. I'm from Louisiana and you could home for about 150,000.. A nice brick home and LIVE GOOD!!!

Great point that most people live where the jobs are in the industry they are working in. And in this part of NC there are many tech and medical jobs. Since the incomes are higher in these industries it pushes housing prices higher. You can also find a $150k brick home in our area but it may not be close to your job or have the preferred schools. But with this new life of remote work your suggestion is great! Thanks for watching!

Thanks for your reply. I enjoy watching your video as well as my husband :) We have lived in Raleigh area and now live in Charlotte area. I love Charlotte and feel it is the only area in NC with the cultural vibe we like. I hated Raleigh. It was very boring, and hard to make real friendships and maintain them. My husband is from from Raleigh, I am from Louisiana. But, he acts like a Louisianan. :) I definitely miss the rich culture, food and jazz and zydeco music, and super friendly people and warm hospitality and the low cost of living!!!! I will probably never experience that anywhere else in America, so its hard for me not to evaluate my experience here with my experience there. I moved here in 2012 and got married in 2013. I did not enjoy Raleigh at all. It just wasn't my type of city. However, Cary is very nice and we once thought of moving there. So, with so many bad experiences, we set out to move to Charlotte. So far, so good! I agree with you about people live where the jobs are. But, my issue are that for instance in Raleigh area, it is a tech industry or medical industry But not everyone is in that field. Some people are teachers, truck drivers, policeman and fireman, painters, etc. But the cost of homes there and throughout NC are not equivalent for them. Not everybody wants to pay 250,000 or 180,000 or 220,000 for a nice size newer home. Even if I'm in the higher paying fields, I may not want to spend that amount on a home. I may want to spend only 50,000 for a 2 bedroom condo. Where are those? lol they don't exist in NC. And if they do, the building is probably condemned. My problem is that they don't have enough variety in different price ranges for rent or sale. It's either a super cheap roach motel with gunfire or super pricey. If I am a teacher earning 30,000 a NC. And My hubby is a fireman, earning 40,000 a year. We would not be able to live comfortably and raise children, in a good school zone without going bankrupt. And if I wanted to live here I shouldn't have to move away because the state or city only geared for tech salary jobs. I guess I'm just a spoiled Louisianan. I need to a video on the Pros of Living in Louisiana.

My home overlooks a lake with trails that lead to Whole Foods and CineBistro. The lake might as well be called The Jackie Onassis Reservoir. Cary is better than Fifth Avenue. There's an oil slick coming off of Manhattan Island.
