Dude, Heart and Zepplin and the Stones and Fleetwood Mac, Sex Pistols, Aerosmith, lynyrd skynyrd... there's so many bands I would have loved to see in the 70s. I was born in the wrong decade. If I were a teen in the 70s that would have been so awesome.

Pros of being a guitar KZreadr: 1. Never hating the job 2. Being in control of your life 3. Having time and location freedom 4. Building a community of people that think you're cool Cons: 1. The feeling that people are becoming less interested in guitar over time 2. Having to spend a lot of time practicing while thinking about how non-guitar KZreadrs don't have this problem 3. Content for us generally takes longer to make 4. Comparing ourselves to others - A guitar KZreadr Nice vid Rachel!

I also use the Looper all the time (so grateful you shared that with us), definitely has help me learn more songs by ear, when before I would often give up and just go find a cover or TAB (if any were available). I highly recommend learning David Gilmours guitar playing for the person interested in playing with more emotion. You can’t really top his guitar solos and unique tones he has in the Pink Floyd Pulse concert on the songs High Hopes,Comfortably Numb, and Sorrow, just to name a few. The whole Pulse Concert is a masterpiece ( a must see on KZread ). David Gilmour is a guitar master 😊.

I like slides for making natural sounds, because it mimics the vocal chord when it changes pitch there usually is a gradual transition. It makes the guitar playing sound less robotic like it was from a MIDI file or autotuned.

That’s neat that you would say Heart! They were a wonderful fresh backdrop to the mid 70’s. I saw them at their peak on May 11th, 1977 (brand new band at the time Foreigner opened for them , was their second show in the United States, first was New York City) 3 days before the “Little Queen” album was released-plus again in 1980 on the “B.B. le Strange” album tour. They were really electrifying yet even Classic hard rock was changing into a more radio friendly sound as with other bands that breaking the musical ice during that time. It was unfortunate-Nancy Wilson was having lots of trouble with her Ovation acoustic feeding back but they eventually got it resolved.

You should try shielding your guitar cavity with copper tape or shielding paint. And a wire from shielding to volume pot. should help a lot with noise. Blocks hum and sends to ground. It's not super easy but worth it in the end. Painting prob the easier way for sure.

You look genuinely happy when you are on camera, and I'm sure that your style would translate in any subject you wish. You may have heard this before, but the blue color of your guitars can match the color of your eyes. I particularly like your Ibanez guitars, but if you haven't tried a PRS guitar then you just may enjoy playing one of those guitars. They have a very affordable SE line that is excellent in the ways you like. 🎸🎸🎸

Okay, I don’t know if you know about them, but since you asked for heavier stuff: ERRA. It’s melodic and heavy and beautiful. It’s something like progressive metalcore or something like that, definitely recommend listening to them from the first album to the last, but if you want to start with a bit lighter, their 2016 album drift is pretty easy to listen to. But the older stuff is the best. Also, I got myself the same blue Ibanez RG that you got as your second guitar - it’s really an amazing guitar. I used to have a jackson dinky as a starter but I’ve learned so much more on this ibanez because it’s just so much better to play. Have a nice day :)

Hi Rachellf, song suggestions for heavy songs: Strapping Young Lad; "Wrong Side" - "Aftermath" - "Love" - "The New Flesh" - "Detox" to be honest, can't go much wrong with Strappings, Devin's the best for my tastes :) Also check out ( if you haven't already ) Fleshgod Apocalypse "The Violation" and Jinjer - "Picies" :) There's also an amazing live version of " Dead Bury Their Dead" by Arch Enemy at Download Festival in 2006. The whole band is firing on all cylinders, but the front-lady Angela Gossow is particularly incredible that day. What an opening scream :O EDIT! Oh! If you're looking to try out weird and wonderful pedals in future videos, although it may be cost-prohibitive, unless you're already loaded with cash :P The Korg Hatsune Miku Stomp Pedal - it doesn't get much weirder than that, or fun :P Kinda useless pedal for everyday use, but if you want strange and wonderful sounds, have a look into that one ! :P Likely to be a bit expensive though, oddly. I am guessing they're kinda rare, rather than filled with incredibly complicated machanics, because I'd love one, but not at that price. But it depends on how much money one has to spend freely, of course :) Have a very heavy Christmas Rachelf :P

I sent them a note asking if I could upgrade my S800 with the wireless electronics...no answer so far. I'm in a small town band (good garage band....hehe) and built in wireless would ALMOST make me buy the W900. Problem is I don't want to have more than $2k in their guitars. I'd suggest starting by learning some riffs from metal songs you like! Or if there's a particular song you're interested in, maybe look up some covers to see how difficult it looks to play. Some metal songs I learned early on were: Cirice, For Whom the Bell Tolls, and Breaking the Law

When you talked about favorite games, you got me thinking about a video essay I watched last night. It's by a fairly new YTer called CritAnnihilation. He does an excellent essay on a post apocalypse, dystopian game called Metro 2033: kzread.info/dash/bejne/mHeL15lrYaebhKQ.html. I especially found the concept of "Liminality" used in the game to be fascinating, but Crit goes over a host of interesting deep interpretations of the themes of the game. I highly recommend it to anyone who is interested in sci-fi, dystopian gaming.
