    For the time stamp at 5:17. Why is the three canceled. I don’t understand.

  • @MathAmigo

    @MathAmigo

    Жыл бұрын

    Hi Amoya, Whenever we add two numbers that are opposite like 3 and -3 they equal zero. In this case we say they cancel out. It’s like if you loaned someone $3 they are in debt for $3 which can be looked upon as -3. Then they pay you back $3 (+3) which then cancels the debt and then owe you $0. So we say they cancelled the debt. The operation of adding opposites is commonly used to solve algebraic equations where we try to isolate the variable term to one side of the equation. Hope this helps and keep up with the math. Had to respond from my MathAmigo account because can no longer log into MuchoMath. Trying to get this fixed.

    Why in the world do I see LCD(lowest common denominator) as largest common denominator...

  • @muchomath

    @muchomath

    6 жыл бұрын

    Yes, that is always confusing to students. One thing to note, the LCD is the smallest number that your denominators will divide evenly into; but it can never be smaller than your largest denominator.
