Properly Unrolling a Net Wrap Accident on New Holland 848 Round Baler
Of course the action comes in the latter half. I had never thought about just rolling the net backwards by hand. Really not too bad. Now I need to find a good knife sharpener for the baler.

From an old man who spent his childhood summers on his grandparents farm...... Thank you for the videos and be safe!
I didn't realize your pickup header was so wide with the augers, I really like that design! I bet its better than gathering wheels
I saw the title, read it as, "The Return of Nick," and wasn't disappointed! At least it was a normal malfunction, and you figured out the easy way to unroll the netwrap. It's not so easy on the Deere.
In my opinion, learning the hard way was lying on my back and trying to pull the crap plug out by hand on a 95 degree day in switch grass stubble. Definitely decided that going into the windrow slow and easy until the bale core was formed was a prudent thing to do.
I’m glad no humans were injured in this accident, stay safe and keep well Jacob!
Nick sneezing was hilarious…I can hear my father sneezing in the field when he is mowing hay…makes me laugh…
Looks like Nick is doin a good job, gives you time to film.
Hello looks like Nick knows how make good bales. Have a good day.
2:44 Bless you
NEVER use razor blades on them rollers no matter what color it is! They leave fine little bers on the rollers (steel and rubber) and them little bers will catch the net wrap and back wrap it. Use a scissors to cut the net wrap!! And yes baby power body power does work on the rollers, help with the static and the net will slide threw the rollers better!!
You need a draw bar flap so it don't bunch up
I worked for a guy that said he could put anyone in the tractor and get field work done that cost him a $1000.00 clutch
got a krone chain baler sitting in the barn right now with net wrapped around the rollers. I'm gonna try your method to unwrap it. Sure looks a lot easier than trying to cut all that stuff off the rollers! What a pain!

This is for the net system. If the bale forming rolls are wrapped, it won't work unless they turn freely.

@@boehmfarm4276 It was the net wrap system. I just went out and rolled the net wrap roll backwards and it all came off the net wrap rollers. And to think previously I was hanging upside down over the intake trying to cut that net wrap off of the net wrap rollers with a carpet knife! Not good for the rollers I'm sure and brutal cutting your hands on all those sharp metal projections that round balers have. Thanks man!!!! I don't know why I didn't think of this myself.
Well I found out yesterday that my knife is completely worn out and you can't buy a new one from new holland. It's possible to sharpen it. But somehow I figured out yesterday that if I put the tractor to a very slow Idle before I engage the wrap it doesn't mess up and wrap the rollers. I did 25 bales yesterday after I started doing the slow idle thing with no issues. The dealer told me to put more tension on the Bundle of wrap and check the rollers for burs. I also believe it is necessary to keep the knife very sharp. I only messed up one bale because instead of cutting the net it rips the net and the first turn on the bale looks like a ripped stocking and I panicked thinking that part of the roll wrapped on the feed roller. I stopped and ejected the bale without having enough wrap on it. To sum it up I think proper tension and a good knife will fix the issue. The baler is new to me and I have only used it two days. Thanks for Taking the time to make helpful videos, if I find aftermarket parts I will share the info.

I imagine it's sharpenable. Probably could use a handheld knife sharpener on it.
no free advertising, except for john deere and New Holland, and other equipment :D
Uneventful can be a very good thing.
Think you've got a blurred bit on the lens again. 🤔😉🙄. Great job on the vid. Good work in the field👍 stay safe 🏴

There's a permanent scratch. With some oil or wax, it gets less bad.

@@boehmfarm4276 that's a bugger🙄 maybe some whisky might help 🤔😳😜 but that would explain it. I'm worse with oily finger marks 🤣. All the best. 👍
I reckon I know now what NOT to do if I get the opportunity to run this thing. Though I've never net-wrapped bales.
make a crank handle for the net wrap holder
I think every farm has a nick 🙈🙉🙊
Make sure every roller that the net goes by is clean, smooth and rolls good with no cuts or bers on them!!

This field was dropped on me late. $quares are where it's at. Rounds are for giving away weeds.

I enjoy your videos making hay. Quick question about the net wrap on your 848. I have an opportunity to buy an 848 but it's a twine tie. Can I add that option now or does it have to come that way when purchased new?

I don't know if new parts are available to change it over. I haven't looked at availability for net parts in yards, might be hard to find. It's either net or twine. Can't do both.
What is Nicks job title? Friend? Paid labor? Relative? Why is he in some videos and then gone for a while? I've been watching your channel now for a while...and can't figure out where he fits in...lol!

Nick is not related. He is not paid. He just shows up wanting to drive tractor. Mostly, I try not film him.
Have you came up with a solution for the net wrap rolling around the rollers

Other than stopping the wind, not really.
After watching your channel for years I still not know Nick is, a brother, family or employer at the farm?

Next time let Nick crawl in there and U stand there and video. LOL
Why don’t you just make a 4x5 rolls since the baler can?

@@boehmfarm4276 I understand if your selling but you said y’all keep most of the round bales. The more in a roll the less you messing around with moving and if you are selling you just charge more. I pay 35 for 4x5s that weigh roughly 900 lbs and are net rapped

@@joeydalia2572 Too many frugal folks around to charge more for more hay. I'll have to make a video feeding hay, the 4x4s fit it hay feeders better too.
Love the channel man! I’m not a farmer myself, but someday I’d like to farm 10 acres or so with my wife and two daughters. I take a lot of inspiration from your channel, because I play farming simulator 19 and have been working on a realistic gaming series for KZread. Check it out sometime!
I wouldn't let him run anything. He's an accident waitin to happen.

Yep
Best threat to any operator is make them pay for any repair parts and also the labor to fix what they break...
@ronniesorter1888

I agree in theory, but any operator worth a damn wouldn't take that deal. Mainly because most people who threaten that are cheap and cut corners on maintenance and then want to blame the operator if anything happens.
