Awesome video man. I have a question you took ground coat closer to end of door by the door handle. Wouldn’t it make harder to blend mid coat because there is little room and how do do you avoid overspray of mid coat from travelling to edge of door & changing the colour. Thanks

Just wanted to say thank you for the information, this is what I was looking for. My issue was trying to match a Mercedes pearl white matte , I now realize that I’ll need 3 or 4 coats of pearl to get a match. Now how to figure out the matte, what I have now is a bit too shiny.

What are you mixing with the basecoat 50/50 with for the wet bed?

I'm doing my first ever Tri coat in white the updated color code is Ford's UG by the vin number, the original color of the doors yes both passenger side doors have to be replaced do to an incident with a fire hydrant. Can I thin the mid coat two to one part thinner and two parts mid coat like the base coat?

Great video. Does the more pearl coats that you apply make the panel look darker? I've done quite a few white pearls that I blended, but I have shot on a few occasions just a rear bumper code QAB for Nissan. When I've shot just the rear bumper, it seems to be brighter than the rest of the vehicle. I usually apply 3 coats of pearl. Not sure if more coats of pearl would help darken it up or did my jobber give me the wrong variant.

Try tinting your base colour closer to the actual colour. More pearl coats will make a colour look darker and yellower. Whenever I spray a tricky colour I always blend just to be safe. Take the small L now vs a Big L later on and have to do a respray

Good luck. Two top tips. Wet bed is your best friend and make sure your ground coat matches the vehicle as close as possible. Pearl has a smaller effect on colour compared to the ground coat

They're good. Same paint as OMNI PLUS. I've had lots of success with them

Hey man, love the videos. Question, I use the MC262 with the 266 & 267 and I seem to run into issues with dieback and pinching. I think I've tried everything to over come it but it seems to still happen. I use the clear on VW Warranty so I tend to see the same car a few times in a year and that's when I notice it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

268. It's the high temp hardener. Just make sure you follow exactly as the tech sheets say

I own a 2002 Infiniti I35 and the paint on it is called (Color Code: AX5Red Pearl Tricoat). I went to the local SW paint shop and asked them to mix the paint for me. They told me that that color is not a tricoat, but a simple base coat with clear coat on top. the paint they gave me already has pearls in it. I don't know who to trust.

Could be a normal colour. My PPG system it's just a metallic/pearl colour. But there is 1 special variant that is a tri coat. Each paint system will be different

Did you do the 50/50 mix with the pearl as well?

I don’t. I’ll mix 50/50 with wet bed to blend base colour out if it’s not great

I have a car that they painted but the color didn’t match. I will be repainting it. Do you know how I need to prep for that ? Do I need to re sand, re primer and paint? Thanks.

What condition is the paint in? If there is no damage I would go ahead and prep everything in 600-800 grit. Depends what the paints tech sheet says. Safe to say 800 grit. If they butt matched the colour then it’s probably a good idea to sand into the next panel to give yourself lots of room to blend it and send it

Sorry again but what was it you said you have in the other gun to blend ?

It isn't a easy thing to get right. Took my tri coat Truck to a body shop recommended by the dealership and they didn't get it right.
