I've been listening to this album steadily for 4 years and still get hot behind the eyes every time starting at 'his mother's loving eyes upon him...' Amazing song.

To add to others, this is the only song that having looked at the lyrics, have made me tear up. Such an incredible song and even better band. Long live Propagandhi!

Song changed my life. Can't count the times I listened to it and it still makes me tear up at the "fond memories".

2:55 Chris' delivery on the line "his mother's loving eyes upon him" is wonderful. Gives the song real power.

It gets me every time! Veganism is the only way forward!

Love this song and what it speaks for. Stop treating animals like shit. Chris is such a literal engineer it's awesome. His music is almost even better. It's so crazy to see how much better he's gotten over time. Love the man and his music and everything he plays for.

Song is brilliant for many reasons.

I worked as a prep cook for saladworks. I played this song every morning before other workers got there, while cooking the bacon. I made myself feel what I did, like veidt from watchmen.

Is it “...and felt the hand of humanity brush over him” OR “...and felt the hand of inhumanity brush over him.” The lyrics as printed here suggest the former, but I’ve always suspected the latter. Regardless, my favorite Propagandhi song of all time.

@09hanley Even if people only drank milk, they'd still need to breed cows. And what do you think they'd do with the male cows? The ones that can't produce milk? They'd still be murdered. Only difference is, the price of milk would rise because of reduced profit margins.

Maybe just buy the record or check their homepage to read the right lyrics.

@bullhunda According to the local lore he’s sent to a farm to live the rest of his life, but the real story’s a bit more sad: Francis was hit by a car, and although he survived he was severely injured. Al Marshall found him near one of Red Deer parks and shot him three times with tranquilizer darts. He was then taken to a nearby farm where he would die a couple of days later due to the injuries caused by the darts (his internal organs were punctured).

@W7z It does change the song a lot in my opinion, and I was basing it almost entirely on listening to it. Please add an annotation like you did with some of the other lyrics.

fuck man this hits hard. i agree with others - the fond memory lyric is overwhelmingly sad.

@W7z First up, thanks for uploading this amazing song in the first place :) But I do think that the lyric "to the realm of god" just doesn't fit with the typical line that Chris would pen. Speculative? maybe, but with Propagandhi's back catalogue as evidence, I think there is a higher probability of the correct line being "turned around and gone." Either way, it's a great song, by a great band and at least it opens up discussion and get's people talking :)

@JordiSmulders Except I'm not unsure because they are militant atheists and I have very good quality headphones and the studio quality album track and when I play it at full volume, the words are "turn around, I'm gone". I even slowed it down on a professional editing software.

@JordiSmulders Unless Chris pronounced his "G"s as "N"s. But I never noticed that in his interviews and I think him saying "Propanandi" would have stood out.

@W7z It is not speculation. I know for 100% that it is not "to the realm of god". There is a small possibility that it could be "To the realm of gone", but listen to the end. You hear "ONE" not "od" very clearly. I am not basing it on speculation. I am basing it on cold hard sound bytes through my top quality speakers. The speculation just adds to the evidence.

How do you get the lyrics wrong when they're printed right on the CD insert?

Is it just me or do some parts of this song sound suspiciously similar to Panama by Van Halen?

@AEgamesFtw If you are unsure mail the guys, for sure they will answer. I think it's kinda strange though on their website they just left this sentence away. To the realm of god makes more sense to me than turn around I'm gone.. Just mail Chris Hannah or see them live and ask him.

I find it hard to really connect with these songs because I can't help but think that francis wouldn't even have been born if he wasn't needed for food. At least he lived.

There are several errors in the lyrics here. They totally change the meaning of the song.

@W7z It isn't speculation. Seriously dude he says (Turna Roundim gone) like that phonetically. Listen for Turna Roundim Gone. Then that is obviously meant to be turn around I'm gone. Either way we know for 100% that it ends in "gone" not "od", even you admitted.

And you're right though it sounds like Chris says turn around blabla, but it doesnt make sense in the context. And usage of the word God doesnt make him a born again christian right away.. So, if Chris is so kind to mail me, Ill let you guys know. But we all agree this is a fcking great song! Propagandhi was a big motivator for me going totally vegan.

3:11 is definately "turn around, I'm gone". I have listened to it many times on high volume with very good quality speakers off my cd.. though it does sound a lot like "to the realm", you can definately tell that it ends with an "one" not a "od". So, though it could be "To the realm of gone", if you listen carefully with both possibilities in mind, I can say very confidently that it is "turn around, I'm gone". Especially since propagandhi are atheists.

i didn´t know the real story behind this song,when i knew about that pig stuff,ok,this song fell down in my top 10,i´d draw parallels with the life of an alienated boy,but make a song for a pig is too much,i think they screwed it up here,it´s not serious but it´s a great song,i prefer my early theory about the lyrics origins

everytime i hear it i am like "how could people think it sounds like turn around I'm gone" it doesnt sound like that and "to the realm of God" fits so much better. if it is "turn around I'm gone" chris should have made it "to the realm of God"\ fits so much better.

They wrote a lot of songs related to human rights, this one is a take on animal cruelty. Considering the sad reality of a slaughterhouse, i think it's more than fair for people to question it.

I used to listen to this as penance while preparing sheet trays full of ham and bacon for saladworks as cook at 7 AM every day. There's still no reason to go vegan, but it would be great if more people raised livestock in a humane way so that factory farming would be unnecessary, or less necessary. We will always collectively have canines, and use them, and excluding yourself from the process only takes away one mouth. If anyone were to use land they own to humanely raise livestock for consumption, they would remove every mouth they feed with said livestock from the factory farming system. Often the best way to deal with a problem, is to envelope yourself within it, and understand it. I worked at an organic farm before saladworks. Our cows were happy, loved to be pet, often were, and didn't need more for a treat than our unsellable refuse vegetables. Be like the cows, and need less, then it will be easier to give your life to a cause, by learning how to make money from it. You'll fail for a while, then be able to sustain your own life by helping others. You can do anything every day, all day, by learning how to make money from it. After that just don't overstep yourself like factory farming has due to greed. Or just go vegan, but I won't.

No. You could breed me especailly for food and then say at least I lived. Your logic is irreparably flawed if you can't tell the difference between killing something which could otherwise live a long life and breeding a creature which would have otherwise never lived and killing that.
