Prologue/Little Shop of Horrors (Piano Cover)
Музыка
This is from the stage musical version. It isn't extended like the revival, nor does it finish in a way that is indicative to the audience that the "song is over and we should clap now"
However, just as the original version of the show and the film version (with Rick Moranis and the amazing Ellen Greene), the chorus' final chord fades out and quickly transports us into the plot of the story.
In this recording, I tried to be as accurate to the original score as I could, but I filled in the synthesizer's part on a couple of occasions because of it's necessary filler. Note the glissando before the last chorus: this was originally played by a synthesizer sound (a reedy-organ sound), and the final glissando after the last chorus is again played by the synthesizer using the famous Roland D-50 Fantasia sound, The octaves being played at the end are representative of "tick-tocks" or the motions of a clock on stage. The ending notes are a tremolo representing a doorbell as Audrey (I) enters. This was also done with the D-50"Fantasia" sound.
I have had the great fortune of playing synthesizer for a production of the show and it remains to be my favorite piece of musical theatre of all time.

It's amazing how something as simple as two notes can get stuck in our heads. The original score's orchestrations are so clever in their ability to put pitch to otherwise non-chromatically pitched sounds we hear in life: Clock ticking,Slide whistles, Doorbells, plant wilting, etc. Regardless of what people think of the new orchestrations for the Broadway revival by Danny Troob,I think that they aren't nearly as appropriately cheesy or as clever as the original orchestrations by Robby Merkin :)
I've been helping out back stage for my school's production for this and one of my jobs is to turn the clock, I can literally hear that "tic toc" theme ringing in my ears!
I also worked backstage for this production at the baxter theatre and i also had to turn the clock!! I can never look at clocks the same XD
Thanks for recording the video at this angle, because of it. I learned it and I can now play it the way you play it. If I had a camera, I would definitely do a tutorial of this for the people begging for one, but sadly I can't at the moment.
Can you please make a tutorial?!?!?!?
on the 24th day of the month of September, in an early year of the decade not too long before our own, the human race suddenly encountered a deadly threat to its verry existence, and this terrifying enemy surfaced, as such enemies often do, in the seemingly most innocent and unlikely... of places..... (yes i did hand type that, can you tell i love little shop of horrors)
I'm going to be in a production of Little Shop of Horrors :D And by the way this is really good!!
