Hie i am the Prokon geek and in this video i am going to be introducing you to how to design a flat slab in autocad and prokon using a flat slab design example you would find out in the real world. In this video i introduce you to the theory of flat slab design, the slab strips, column and middle strips in flat slabs and also i show you the basis of analysis and design of flat slab examples as beams and the theory behind the deflection of flat slabs and deflection of slabs in general based on SANS 10100 and BS 8110
this will also serve as an introduction to Middle Strip and Column Strip in flat slab design.

    Thanks prokon guru for the great video. is it necessary to change the percentage moment distribution table for flat slab middle strip to 25 and 45 for neg and pos respectively Option 4 on beam type.

    Prokon geek. I was going through the loads entered in the software and I might be wrong but I realized that the software already encompasses the self weight of the slab and from the calculations in excel you are including the self weight again in the dead load.

    Hey Rocky thanks for watching yes i noticed that, it was a mistake on my part guess i was rushing through it and got lost to the music lol in this case we will need to reduce the thickness of the dead weight contributor from 250 to 50 mm which will just be for the screed in this section, you can use 22,23 or even 24kN/m3 for its Gamma and it will give you around 1.0 to 1.2 kN/m2 and then multiply it by whatever length you you have

    Hie Winston glad to see you are finding the videos useful but unfortunately, Prokon doesn't have a direct way of designing a stair case, you can use FRAME but it will be just a Pain in the Donkey but i will see what i can do to help you and others when it comes to staircases.

    Hi. Question. Why divide the slab into those strips? What is the theory behind it? For instance, if designing a slab supported on beams, one assumes a 1m wide strip supported on beams and then calculates the bending moments and shear forces.

    Hullo Prokon Geek. Thanks alot for the video. I noticed some thing. Why did you divide 2500 by 17 to determine spacing, yet the 2500 is for the column strip. This is because in Prokon, a slab strip of 5000 was considered so I would expect to divide 2500 by the number of bars got from a 75% of 253KNm Moment.

  • @prokongeek6239

    @prokongeek6239

    3 жыл бұрын

    Hie Brain how are you firstly thanks for watching the video. I divided by 17 because i prompted prokon to detail the slab i told it to reinforce only the column strip so the 17 bars i have there are specifically for the column strip, that is the reason why you choose which reinforcement procedure and placement you want in the detailing parameters screen those 17 bars are the bars that come after the 75% allocation is already done.
