You guys funny though😂. I feel like nobody likes conflict okay I get that. But, whenever you get a work to do in a group, are you going to do it on your own because James is a slacker ? Or Laura does know what she’s doing? You gotta talk to that slacker/ poor grade student wherever it is a man or a woman stand on your feet don’t be scared. If he/she stills does not want to do the job well you gotta do what you’ve to do snitch 🤷🏽‍♂️. I’m not going to work on something for you to get the same acknowledgment…. In my freshman year of college, I took an intro macroeconomics class and we had to make a video as part of a group project. I was in a group of five. Four of us did research, writing, and filming while the fifth guy edited everything together. We also asked him to cite all of our sources that we sent him as all he was doing was editing the video and it would be easy for him to just add the list of sources to the end of the video. Unfortunately, he didn't know how to cite sources in MLA, so I sent him the citation template that the professor included with the rubric and specified that it was just the template. He submitted the video and a week later we got a kindly worded email from our professor saying that we needed to resubmit it with the sources by the end of the next day with the implication that we would fail the project and be called in for a meeting with the honor council if we refused. Turns out, our group member included the template in the final project and I wanted to strangle him. We had to scramble to get everything cited since it was near the end of the semester and we were all busy. Ended up getting points docked and got a C- on the project.

One of my teachers told me that she had a strategy to actually get group projects to work She simply put all the hardworking people together and all the slackers together. Either the slackers had to shape up and actually get something done, or they would fail and that wasn't her problem. And it worked, a group of all slackers ended up putting in the work and actually did really well

I remember this one group project my freshman year of high school. This was well into second semester and at this point everyone in class had a feel for how each student works. We were of course numbered off into random groups. Each group had 4 people and they were assigned to a specific table. I was the last to reach my table. When I got there one of them said, “thank god your in my group,” to which the person next to them replied, “seriously, I was worried we were stuck with a stupid group.” This was alarming already because each person in my group was a slacker and I knew it. So for the reminder of the period we planned our project and separated the tasks evenly. I of course not trusting the others took it upon my self to do research and analysis. We agreed to bring in our part the following day. So the next day comes and I bring out my papers and I’m bombarded with excuses from the other three. So, I pull out an extra stack of papers and simply say, “don’t worry I did the whole thing because I knew you guys wouldn’t.” Now normally as a person that doesn’t like conflict I would never say that, but the moment they saw me enter the group was when they decided they weren’t going to do anything. So anyways I got an A and they failed :)

Pro tips if you have to carry ppl: * If its a presentation, make your slide so vague that only you understand the ideas, numbers, and key terms, so if someone tries to step in and do your slide, they will fail miserably and then you can cut in and explain it * Make sure you are using a program that has saved, marked history of what is being done in case you have to show it to the teacher * If you have to answer questions/sections, put your name somewhere in there so that your work is painfully clear * Tell your teacher you want to work alone, and if they say no, just prove to them that you are doing all of the work, so they will at least have that in mind while grading the project

This reminds me of a group project I did in 5th grade where we had to decide which side we were on in an argument and then have a debate. We got "should Zoo's exist or should we release the animals?" As our question. After doing our research our group split 1-4, I was on the 4. Anyway we continued our reasearch and soon me and my friend realized that the to guys in our group were slackers and they didn't want to talk in the debate. We thought that would be fine, if you don't feel comfortable talking in front of the class, I completely understand. Anyway the day of the debate comes and our group Is split on the two sides of the table. Before we started, we asked the two guys if they were sure they didn't feel comfortable and didn't want to say at least one line in the debate. They agree to say at least one of the points and we assign one point to each of them. Anyways the girl on the other side says her point, it matches up with mine so I say mine. The debate continues until it come to a point where one of the guys has to say their point. You wanna know what this dude does? He bails on us and just sits there like " so you gonna say it or what". Now I'm not mad at him for not saying anything but it just annoys me that he didn't say anything. Just left us hanging. Anyway the other girl in my group says his line but we stumbled over each other cause it was kind of confusing. Anyway the debate continues and her points start not matching up and we had more and huge reasons for our side. Then it comes to the part where the class gives us feedback.....they sided with the girl on the other side and our teacher got mad at me and my friend for not letting the guys talk..... we all got c's......

So when there was a group project we’re you could choose your partners I always asked the teacher to work by myself which half the time I couldn’t because it was a group project. Sorry this video just brought back memories man.

Ok, so I dont mind if i need to do a group Project, but if the teacher says "You can choose to be in a group or to be alone in a Project", I always pick being alone. Its cause "group" projects end up being solo projects 90% of the time, but you're expected to trust someone else to help out, when in reality they're coasting along to get whatever grade you'll get for them by doing the whole project alone

I really agree with this comment. During group discussions, I give them the easiest tasks while I do the hardest one. I trust them, but, somehow, in the back of my mind, I don't trust them and do the easiest tasks just in case. And guess what, I find out during deadlines that I was the one who did all the work. I was carrying the team behind my back while they went AFK, or something. It is so frustrating. Because of this, I've learnt to not trust classmates during group projects( there are exceptions, though; I also have hardworking classmates and I salute them for it). And when I have a choice to be in a group or to go solo, I always choose to go solo, even though I may screw myself, because I can blame it on myself if I did screw myself for being overly confident because being angry on others really drains me and also, it makes me angry at myself for being dumb to trust them in the first place (arghhhhh!) . Wow, I finally let it out and that felt really good.
