    Alex, great video! It has been very helpful. With your new M7, have you tried to do color yet? I thought it might be cool to get through the powder coat on a tumbler then do another color pass to fill the mark since they are stainless. I’ve had luck doing colors on stainless plates but haven’t tried it on a tumbler.

    Hi Alex, just got really curious with Project Mark function here, were not able to play much with that yet. We do have the high tower and the 300mm and now realize its good advantage. Just like to know when you'll recommend this approach over the Rotary Mark for tumblers or other spherical things. This is a saver for those having issues with the lines and will make bitmap marking on spherics possible. Thank you so much for the great explanation in this video. 👍👍👍👍👍

    We could unmount the tower, rotate it 90 degrees and mount it in the new rotated position so that we can have access to more distance down away from the mouting surface of the tower. So we can use the same tower!

    I really like the video. I currently run a 55w CO2, but am looking to speed up my tumbler engraving. Mainly 20oz tumbs. With my CO2, I have of coarse have to raise the top, place the tumbler into the rotary, run the job, raise the top, remove it, place another in, and so on. When your doing 200 or so more, it's very time consuming. I'm looking to buy a 30 w from Monport. The specs are below. Working Dimension: 8'' x 8'' ( 20 cm x 20 cm ) / Machine Dimension: 13.7'' x 21.6'' x 26,9'' ( 35cm x 55cm x 68.5cm ) // Main Tower Dimension: 8.2'' x 17.7'' x 15.3'' ( 21cm x 45cm x 39cm ) Fiber Lens Dimension: 200mm x 200mm I'll be looking to buy one of their 300mm lens as well. With the specs above should I be able to get a decent engraving with artwork around 3" in width? Of course, I'll use the machine for other things that I do such as slate / cork coasters, anodized keychains, etc.... Thoughts?

    Hey there - great video. A couple of questions, do you have to have a filtration system with these machines? I've noticed many people do not use one. Also, with the Mactron JPT, do you receive support if needed? Last, I use Corel with my CO2, can I use it with these machines as well? Seems to work really well with my current laser.

  • @LaserEverything

    @LaserEverything

    2 жыл бұрын

    You can use a fume extractor to filter these machines we have one linked in the buying guide www.lasereverything.net/buyingguide but you're correct most people don't use them. Whenever possible we recommend exhausting directly outdoors. Mactron offers fairly good support but there's still a pretty serious language barrier. Corel will work as a designing suite but you won't send jobs to the laser from corel - you'll have to export as an AI or svg file and then import it into ezcad to actually run the job.

    Is there a soft touch coating on the thermos or just paint? I tried this processing method on a soft touch, but it doesn’t work out so easily. Moreover, soft touch red or orange is the most difficult to process with a fiber laser (at least in my particular case), other colors turn out great

    Have you tried this method doing a black mark on a stainless tumbler? I have the 300mm lens with a 50cm tower. On the chuck rotary I can't get the tower tall enough to focus for the black mark. I didn't even think about this option. I had a 150mm x 70mm image I was trying to put on the tumbler.

  • @LaserEverything

    @LaserEverything

    2 жыл бұрын

    I've done a small amount of testing and hit some walls pretty quickly with projecting black mark. Even with lenses with a large depth of field the focal point for z-marking is so specific it's been difficult to get the good black all the way around the curve. I think rotary for zmarking is still the best option - and the 80cm tower would be a big help with that.

  • @travissnyder3123

    @travissnyder3123

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@LaserEverything I was testing last night and ended up using my 200mm lens with the rotary, but even placing the tumbler at an angle I still had like a 7mm-8mm height difference between the highest and lowest point on the tumbler where the graphic was to go. I had to run 2 passes at speed 50 at different focal heights to get a decent black mark(which takes about 30 mins with the graphic size I had). If I extend the tower I'm hoping the 300mm will cut that down to one pass.

    It sounds like those being all metal, a fiber laser would be best to do that type of work. Deep engraving is a slower process, but you can get more done faster with a higher wattage laser if you fine tune your settings. The smaller the work area for your lens, the more power will reach the material in a finer dot size to be able to do more faster as well, so try not to oversize your lens.

    Unfortunately no, you can still follow this guide. The best thing you can do in ez3 is to reduce the width of the graphic so it skews skinny to try to make up for the stretching from wrapping around the curve. It's a lot of guess and check but once you know how much you need to reduce the graphic width for a particular object diameter it should work every time.

  • @LaserEverything

    @LaserEverything

    2 жыл бұрын

    Theoretically yes, but you'd be hard pressed to find an 80w fiber that isn't a MOPA. The MOPA would cut faster because you can maintain high power output at higher frequencies. That means more pulses that are just as strong as the pulses the regular fiber can only put out when it's don't just a few pulses in the same amount of time.
