Jeez, I'm trying to imagine what someone who never climbed would think watching this. I mean that dude is going all the way to Finland to sit under a frozen rock in the middle of a wasteland, desperately trying to hold onto sharp granite cristals and cutting bits of shredded skin off his bleeding fingers. What a funny game we play.

@@giansalam3134 I am an Olympics junkie. I tuned in to see the climbing as a new sport in the games. I wound up watching the full comp online live, not just the ten minutes that made it on the broadcast. I saw the semis, and the finals all the way through. TBH, I became an instant fan of Brooke's that night, but also of the sport as well. I liked the vibe of the whole contest, and thought it was a good show. I kept watching the world cup events online all throughout the season, and got hooked as a fan of the sport. I started watching some of the various climbing channels, such as Marcus Midbo and a few others (his freeclimb with Alex H. blew my mind!). As I said, Brooke (and Janja, and Natalie and the others) drew me into the sport, and as I learned a bit about her I learned about her family. I wondered about her brother, since we don't see him in the comps. KZread, in the infinite wisdom of the algorithm, served up a few of Shawn's outdoor bouldering videos along the way. I saw him in a video with Marcus a few weeks back, and thought he was a really cool guy; as well as amazing to watch. Not long after that, Shawn started his own channel and I subscribed right away. I'm 57, and go about 300lb, so I'm not taking up climbing anytime soon; but I'm hooked on watching the sport. There are a lot of cool people to root for, and I can't take my eyes off it. I'm starting to feel like I have an idea how they do it, I just don't know where they get the radioactive spiders.

Yes. It is crazy, but it also set's some precedence. I only wait when the land owner realizes the gem on his property. Forestry, boulders. If nobody ever is willing to pay for use of roads (that will need some fixing eventually), or local moose-hunting society to be careful with a shooting sectors... No, don't get me wrong. But did Nalle or anyone "officially" ever pointed the purpose and use of that boulder particularly? I mean, did anybody informed the master and owner of the lands, why there is continuous stream of visitors on his property? That itself is irrelevent as we have Every-men-rights here in Finland. I only ask, that does people think anything when it was apparent the forest around the burden was felled about 20 years before it was ready for the timber. And it all was gone all the same. Why? PR problem? No worries, after some 5-10 years there will grow some bushes. Lol. Before that, the grudged Landowner may legally just blow out the Burden, and nobody won't accuse him, legally. Think about that, when coming here to project. Ask even, if its ok.

So good! These videos are super good! So good that I actually would prefer some more uncuts of the actual moves honestly, not just crazy angles and slow mo’s of the moves. That can be the down side to trying to make a crazy edit. It seems like tons of goes weren’t included and just the interesting stuff is included, but I’d love to see it all! Also wild how quickly the first move went 🤯, obvs like 2 months of try’s is a long time but for burden that’s quick!

It's the hardest boulder in the worst weather, but it's still moving. I wouldn't even consider jumping on the project without near-perfect conditions. I am in awe.

You will get there one day since the path has been shown. After you have figured this puzzle out I will go and do it too....first spending a couple hours masoning some steps on the side of it.

It's incredible how hard these individual moves look and feel. And no matter if the grade is confirmed in the end or not - imagine the difficulty of e. g. Alphane shrinked into 5 moves.

I was casually vibing in a public outdoor sauna in Helsinki a few months back. I saw the most jacked dorito-shaped dude walk in there and after a while I realised it was Shawn. Kinda regretting that I did'nt say a word to him. He seemed so chill tho :D
