    big fan of procedurally generated stuff! i do believe that limiting that to wilderness for starters is a good idea. generating believable towns (or even single buildings) procedurally is probably a pain

    Having seen how 7D2D can really struggle with procedural generation at times, it's definitely not the best choice all the time. I remember sometimes you'd have a road just take you into a mountain side or go straight off a sheer drop into a ravine with no bridge...

    When they do start with buildings maybe they start with cabins and camp grounds in the wilderness. Even if they don't show up on the character's map it would be believable, someone living off grid or something.

    Totally agree, i do a lot woth procedural generation in my day job and its honestly a minefield the more intricate you need to get with it

    I for one wouldn't mind a bare sprt of map similar to just strictly wilderness (BUUUT) having small random outskirts type towns or even the chaotic type of map that could be a majority of sprawling city that is procedurally generated. What it does mean for now though, this could be used for mods which ironically ticks a certain box Atomic was trying to go for for the "dungeons" 😉maybe it become more than just for wilderness even if its not what the dev team is focusing on. Id love to see that kind of stuff become well made and so fun👌I cannot wait. I'm excited.

    You know the 'Many Years Later' challenge should possibly have a little less zombies overall due to things like zombies falling off buildings, breaking a window and falling out, or just they fell into a river and never came out. Cause this is 'many years later' a lot of things have probably happened to a good number of zombies that resulted in their deaths.

    I like the idea of a post-post apocalypse with much more scarce supplies from the old world and a few less shamblers around, really drives home the feeling of a dead world

It's great to see TIS is thinking of the modding community by not only giving us systems and content to enrich the game but actively making it accessible for modders to pick up and run with as well.     Im so glad to see this game being actively worked on, its such a gem. It kind of goes against the core of the game, but I would love to have an "endgame"/"extraction" scenario, perhaps there is a MOD. Great video though ! I discovered you through your ZERO SIEVERT video, I would love to see an update video from you on that game. If there is enough content that is, im not sure how active the devs are on that game, but it looked promising ! Cheers mate, Subbed !

    I am really excited for the primitive lifestyle aspects of this update. I love playing with handmade weapons and tools, and can’t wait to see a further implementation of this. b42 is shaping up to be a good one 🙏

    Seeing the individual part condition of melee weapons in PZ makes me think they'll add something similar to firearms. I imagine that the bolt + bolt carrier, trigger mechanism, barrel and gas tube will each have seperate condition bars and may be able to be swapped out with better condition parts, or repaired with metalworking. Maybe we'll even get proper weapon customisation, too. Like for the M16 there could be different barrels; a 12" version, a 16" version, a 18.5" version, barrels with threading for suppressors, heavier barrels which lose condition slower but weigh more, different triggers from civilian semi-automatic firing mechanisms to military fully automatic and 3 rnd burst firing mechanisms, etc. I don't really use guns in PZ, but i'd still like to see firearms get fleshed out.

    I always thought that a good idea for PZ, would be to have a full map of uninfected NPC's, with one or just a few infected (escaping from a lab or something) and the infection gradually infecting everybody over a week or so. You could go around at the beggining getting stores and equiptment to ready yourself for total Zombie take over, before it gets over run. You could have good NPC's, bad NPC's, looting, gangs of survivors etc... that would be pretty cool. You could still even have an odd few NPC's holding out in small pockets, weeks into the game.

    It would be nice if you reached the end of the map you get a world map screen where you can choose to go to a location then it generates a map according to a biome This way means modders can connect different maps that may or may not be hand crafted It's also a nice idea to have be able to do a small map just for a hideout, so multiplayer groups can make their own private spot in the server without being disturbed by other players

    This is awesome I love Wilderness or Nomad style playthroughs. I made Daryl Dixon as a player and threw him into the Forest mod as a Park Ranger (I think this Prof would be Daryl I just don't have his crossbow :( ) Great Video again been watching a lot of your other videos recently so subbed also.     Whilst I love all the stuff they are adding I feel like they keep adding more rather than finishing what they already are working on so much so that it now feels like B42 will never arrive as they will just keep making it bigger and bigger. Surely some of this stuff can be reserved for a later update.

    I'm eager to try out the new weapon wear and repair system. Its always bothered me that an axe or a crowbar could just break. I dont know anyone who can swing hard enough to damage the metal bits and, if its a good tool, the wood holds up as well unless its been left out in the weather.

    axes do wear out, but it takes years, and usually it's just the blade and handle that need care. but yeah not sure how could you break a crowbar, unless it's old style cast iron and rusted and flaked a lot, but the ones in game are steel im pretty sure

    This update it's huge looking the map and all modded maps will need rebuilt for good andI wish the idea of random wildness and maybe crops can decramp the map ( Much cramp if you use mods, I'm taking 2 months to make a mixed mods that doesn't cramp, interfere or be repetitive). I repair weapons many times, cose I play with very Low loot and generally some revive zeds, so a machete needs to be long and this changes are things I call for years. But still need to implement the trajectory mod, for things and bows

    wondering how the sharpness/condition changes will effect the Katana, I hope you still cant repair it but can sharpen it, i'd also like to see perhaps a perfesion or trait to repair it and maybe give more long blade.

    @@nood1le I think that the game is more than a decade old and has enough financial support to have more steady updates and, you know, a full release overall. This game is as old as Star Citizen, and the updates are huge, which while good, kind of feels unfocused. I remember playing the old PZ that even had a story bit that was removed with the idea that, someday, the game would be developed enough to have a story mode for those that want to complete the game. Years have passed and systems get revamped, new systems are added, and they never end the development cycle. They should have gone the Minecraft route, making the core idea of the game first, making it possible to be finished/played eternally (The second one is already possible since the beginning, but not the first), then adding all the crazy stuff and revamping what needs to be reimagined (like the foraging system, that was completely different before what we have now). Instead, this upcoming update seems like you are able to fantasy your Far Cry Primal days in isometric graphics, but there is no goddamn signs of NPCs. The first few big updates felt amazing, but now I'm like "where are the NPCs?". As much as Blacksmithing is a nice addition, I remember them talking about returning NPCs since before cars weren't even a part of the game. Like the example I gave with Minecraft, it is like we progressively get new minerals, mobs and resources, but there is no point over getting them, since there is no Nether or End dimensions to adventure trying to finish the game. So far, I played PZ with my brother, and while we had a nice overall time together, we were the ones creating some "objectives" for us to avoid boredom, but after moving to Louisville, more than 3-4 months in game (and I don't know how many hours overall), we shut down the game one day and was like "now what?"

    Note: I don’t know if my previous comment went through so I am writing this one too. I like the new features planned, but I feel like the indie stone should focus on the features the already announced then to announce more things. The indie stone seems to be passionate on making the best zombie game ever, and they have bunch of ideas, but I feel like they are more focused then adding new things then getting the update out. I don’t want to rush the indie stone on this, so maybe they could add their ideas in future builds or mini updates along the way.

    imo i like a more fleshed out, full of content update rather than small ‘unfinished’ updates. plus their updates are always hyped up due to the amount of new vanilla stuff coming out. great example is like a music artist making an album, would you like your favourite artist to make a rather rushed, 4 song album for an obvious quick cashgrab? or have them take their time to slowly build momentum hype and release a full 8 song album full of passion that would last fans to love for months or even years

    @@eliboo1618 what I am saying is that they are adding so much features that they would have to take flesh out the ones they already started working on plus the ones they announced. I think by all means, take as long as you need for perfection, but the more and more you promise, the more and more it will take to make it. In simpler terms this is how I am seeing it: Imagine you split at buckets of water between 80 cups. You still have the same amount of water, but less amount of water in the cups than you would have if you had 40 cups.

    The new stuff what they teased are looks good and practical and slightly add more complexity to the game. Once human AI survivors added to the game + on multiplayer you gather 20-30 people you can make ultimate survival colonies. I hope a lot more items will be later added to the system so we can craft armors, more weapons, more tools and enable to combine some to make entirely new items. Later on the road I hope the human models will get a further redesign to look more nicer. It's just a wish from myself (there are few mods that do this). Modders will improve also some of the existing systems what was long awaited. Also Merry Christmas everyone.

    Lets get trains in the game and on the map! The boat mods are already a huge hit... Think of how cool of an achievement getting a working train would be, exploring a semi randomly generated map wilderness in between going to major established towns.

    It would be sick for towns and buildings to be generated in wilderness gives you a reason to explore the unkown and a wilderness with taken over towns and pois generated would be amazing

    The weapon sharpness change sounds great in theory but I think its just going to be a monotonous pain in the ass, the benefit for being fully sharpened will need to be significant enough to justify the effort.

    ​​@MKUltraSurvivor In some games there is an affection meter when it comes to pets. It's possible that will be apart of the game. The affection meter increases the quality of items produced by that animal, such as eggs, dairy, and wool. For animals like wolves, petting allows you to tame them in most games, sometimes petting is also the functional command to make them sit or follow (Minecraft) or they activate dopamine receptors for the players. Sometimes the wolves will fight better if their affection meter is high, or sometimes it is just to provide a story. Petting is also realistic in a game about realism, but also, being very extra nihilistic. You can pet many things and they usually enjoy it.

    Is it possible that they’ll be adding a mechanic for creating and sealing your own canned foods? I know there’s already jarring in terms of food preservation. I think it would be a neat future addition.

But the devs already have equipment in the game that looks like it could potentially be used for it, specifically in those big produce-filled warehouses where you’ll find tons of (usually by the time you get to it) rotten vegetables and fruit. The equipment just isn’t currently functional.

    @@noahdaanimalguy7673 jarring in the game is okay, but it would be cool have canning too because maybe it wouldn’t expire like jarred stuff still does. I know there are food preservation mods such as for making jerky but I haven’t fiddled with them yet. I tried a dairy one yesterday and couldn’t get it to work, which is a bummer because I really wanted to craft some cheese 😂

    Im playing multiplayer with my friends in my server at the current build, when it updates to b42 will i have to create another server? Apart of all mods that will take time to update to 42

    Yes unless you continue to play on build 41 you will not have the same server in build 42 since tons of the map is changing and having new stuff added.

    I just hope that players will be able to build/dig basements... I want to build a bunker somewhere, knowing how hard it will be... Would be cool if there will be a wirework to connect each room to the generator, but i doubt it will be added...

    I don't see why it wouldn't be possible for modders to add new animals into the game after the basic framework for them is created. Project Zomboid does a good job at making features easily accessible to modders, so I imagine that animals are no different.

    I LOVE THE WEAPON system update I surely hope they add different woods to upgrade handle with if not I suspect in a mod someone will do that to go with this system they want to do. Also fire hardening. I been talking about that.

    If they don't add the mod "Superb Survivor" that has an incredible AI, to the official game content i'm going to be so mad.. this mod alone saved the game for me, i bought it on Desura (closed now) back in 2012 or something, in alpha state 2D cartoon like, and they had survivor in the game offcially, just doing their things but still they were there so to see a mod become way more than just dumb npcs, with jobs for them, independent looting and base building, other groups, bandits, being a bandit and robbing other survivors, with everything a player could do, not just a scripted monster, its just too good to be ignored

    The new weapon stats would probably be great for people that constantly travel in their game, as for me, I pick a home base and hoard everything there so I always have another weapon or tool ready to go instead of repairing an old one more than once or twice if at all

    Honestly I just want an endgame, this stuff all sounds cool but it's also just...more stuff, if you already hit a wall and get bored in this game this isn't going to keep you going much longer so far as I can tell. Once you get to a point where everything is comfy you have basically nothing left to worry about aside from the small chance you'll make a horrendous mistake and die. I don't care if it goes against the theme of the game, I just want a way to "Win" be it fixing up some boat to escape(to a dead world) or breaking out of a military lockdown. Some kind of insane challenges that are super hard to beat as a finisher. Imagine there's like 50 soldier NPC's blocking some complex for you to get through and of course all the gunfire attracts nearby zombies for this huge battle, which would even tie in to the theme of the game because you just let the zombies out and doomed the world. There's loads of ways they could spin each ending to make it be more of a technical win than a triumphant success, To me the game is a lot like Rimworld, you get to a point of being too powerful and then "And now what?" but there's nothing really left to do besides start again. Being able to craft a few more things won't add much for me honestly.

    This is why the game so desperately needs NPCs; they should add that element of unpredictability. Of course, every time the subject is even brought up Indie Stone say ‘no no! We need to do this this and this to build a foundation for NPCs!’ Maybe that’s true, maybe it isn’t, but to the layman all it looks like you’re doing is investing your time in things the majority of players don’t care about.

    Procedurally generated map would be AWESOME to have in Zomboid. It ups the ante of the whole game since there's nothing guaranteed (ammo from gun stores, weapons, supplies etc) and you're forced to explore the map without rushing to preset points. Now, if it can drop sometime before 2024 summer...
