    Hi Taylor, I’m new to your channel, thanks to youtube algorythms… I enjoyed this video! Allow me to make one important comment. About your safety driving down hill. At 10:41 I see you braking only on the left brake pedal! On the road, those 2 braking pedals should always be coupled with that plate on the left one. If not, in case of an emergency brake, you would spin around the left wheel and being ejected from your seat…! Please take care! May your dreams come thru!

    I love your down to earth personality, so typical of farm people. Different problems arise every day and need to be addressed and fixed. As you have said before sometimes a repairman can't come for a week or two. Farming, and the girls, can't wait. That is both the curse, and joy. Labor day means the same as anyother day on a dairy farm, time to milk.

    Hi Taylor, it good to see the sun out and that means you can get some of your favourite work done. Bayling hay! It was good to see you finally put your ear muffs on. The countryside looks great at the moment with the green paddocks and blue skies. You are learning lots of new trades and Brent is a good teacher. Thanks for the video. Chris from Australia 🇦🇺.

    Cotton from a rag, round-up, duct tape and just scrape the sides of the stems then give it a round-up band-aid. Doesn't take much. The trick is you can't _harm_ the stem you're putting round-up on or it'll abort it, just give it a scrape or two. You can try stacking herbicides too, give it a little of all three. One of the big things you run into is plants that are immune to chemical penetration from above are often completely vulnerable from below - I used to drag my spraying hose across people's yards after spraying because it'd tilt the little broadleaves over and smear the mixture under their leaves and kill the hell out of them. So try a little spray bottle of round-up just a cheap bottle and wear a glove to lift the leaves and spray under em.

    Taylor its nice of you and Brett to cut the neighbors field BUT cutting an unknown field you never know what surprises might be hidden in the grass like rocks or pieces of metal that the mower will hit and do damage to the mower so you will just have to be careful and take it slow and hopefully everything will go as planned ❤😊

    What a great video. Loved the mowing. Now when I was the farm, I would be out there windrowing the hay. Then my cousin would come by after it dried and bale it. Square bales, no round balers were around then. Makes me wish I was still farming. Love your work ethic. Also like it that you use old tractors for some of the haying. Have a great day and God Bless

    Tay, your weed looks like Japanese Knotweed. The roots will go down as far as 15 feet if not further. We used to inject neat glyphosate into the stems as well as pour it down the cut stems. As you probably know it's extremely invasive so you are best to burn or bag the prunings. This plant will grow through asphalt and is very determined and hard to eradicate. Wash off/down any equiment used in cutting it back as the cuttings etc are like potato peelings and the smallest piece will take root. We also used to add some diesel or washing up liquid to the chemical to break down the wax on the leaves and stems. I hope that this is useful. Oh, great video as usual, thanks.

  • @badgerpa9
    @badgerpa911 ай бұрын

    That weed by your milkhouse you should burn or bag the plant up and take it to the dump, it will grow from the cut off material. People use softener rock salt and that sometimes helps. If you have a piece of metal a thick sheet to dig down and bury might help, it will grow up through blacktop. Neighbor I worked for had that and I finally used a syringe and shot about a CC of gasoline in each stock at the base, about a hundred stalks later it did die off after about a week. 1066 sounds good, miss that ting ting of the exhaust cap. You do a great job filming and editing, thank you for all the time you put into the videos. I hope you got a good 30 bales from that field looked like a nice field to get for cutting, easy access by the road. Hope you all stay safe and healthy.

    As usual the filming was great, but the "mowercam" shot was just terrific. I totally had a flashback when you guys were filling up the running tractor and the vibration was causing the diesel to jump out of the filler neck and land on the cowl. Even the silver paint, over silver paint, over rust on the bulk fuel tank, perfect. Your delivery and content are just so authentic. Keep up the good work.

    You are pretty devoted to life on that farm. It would be nice if your boss gave you the chance to take over that farm when he decides to retire. But that leaves you alone there and there isn’t a lot of young people today that will give up there life of leisure to work on a farm. I did it for over 40 years starting when I was in grade school , my friends farm, My father didn’t like my attraction to it so I sneak up there when he wasn’t there which I got me punished a lot but didn’t stop me. Finally he gave in and let me work part time when I was still in school. My last job which I worked over 20 years was with a farmer from Maine there fathers name was Pete Dakin , they moved to Florida when they were kids and I think there family still owns the farm property today. But doesn’t run a farm there

    That looks like Japanese knotweed. Evil invasive stuff. For a small area I’ve had decent luck putting down cardboard then covering it with plenty of mulch.

    Hey Taylor, are you a Maine native? You don’t seem to have the accent Brent does. Did you ever get the round baler fixed?

    Question? Wondering how the seeding you did in the manure spreader went? Was it worth it?

    It actually worked really well! I definitely wouldn’t use it as a method of complete reseeding but as a filler it does a fantastic job!
