Project ToyoRati Ep 4 : Removing the Maserati Transmission!!!

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

In this episode we will be getting into the big ticket work items. Removing the rear subframe, with all of the attached components. Removal of the transaxle with a small overview of the famous Ferrari F1 hydraulic assembly and the transmission. Installing the subframe back into the car so I can take the needed measurements for the suspension geometry later on.

Just stumbled across your build and I'm intrigued! I'm also thinking about an F136 for a project. If you're getting rid of the F1 shifting system, what's your plan for engine management? I'm guessing that the engine won't run if it id missing that system....

The F136 is a pretty stout engine, and the price on them is really nice considering the current prices. The F1 system is long gone, and I have an *idea* on an engine management system the should work. But I won't know until I try.

How did you convert the transaxle to manual shift? Is there a video on the manual shift conversion aspect of this project?

I'm actually in the process of building what I need to make this converted to a manual setup. It's in the final stages of manufacturing right now. I hope to have something up soon. It's VERY cool.

@@TheIntensiveCarUnit Is there a way to get in contact with you directly? I'm looking to do a manual conversion using the same transaxle but fit to a car from the factory.

Hi, my Quatroporte (2005) for some reason is running very hi on engine revolution. I'm talking about almost 3k rev at only 50 mph on the 6 gear. I've seen on youtuve videos that other Maserati don't even reach 1,900 rev at 55mph on 6 gear but my car every single gear is very hi on revolution, feels like every gear reach hi rev with little gas and the transmissions its not slipping or showing any trouble signs. I just bought the car and don't have any previous experience with Maserati. I can't drive over 50mph because the engine is too high on revolutions!!! Any help will be appreciated.

This sounds like a slipping clutch to me. I know you say the transmission isn't slipping, but these cars operate as a conventional manual, that is controlled by hydraulics and computers. Not from the conventional automatic which is controlled by a valve body and multiple wet clutches. Outside of scanning the codes or knowing what clutch wear is at, I can merely only speculate what could be going on.

HOW MANY HOURS OF WORK TO REMOVE AND INSTALL THE TRANSMISSION?

It's a pretty involved job, probably in the neighborhood of 12-14 hours?

May u succeed in figuring out how to get this to function as a traditional 3 pedal manual, as how this should have left the factory...

Thanks, I have a few parts waiting to be finished up, but I do believe I have a solid solution. Not without the help of the community, of course.
