    @@SimRacingCorner I just ordered my Project D shifter via your Banggood link! I am very excited! The SHH Shifter company is currently on vacation and my order would have been shipped out by July 28th, 2022 so I did not go with SHH. The VNM and Fanatec shifters were out of my budget so I did not choose either. The USD $200 Thrustmaster TH8A and cheaper USD $50/$60 shifters did not seem like a great value so I did not choose either. Do you know how "early" each gear gets recognized so if it would be possible to DIY a sequential mode? If I understood correctly the other aliexpress shifter with the microswitches limits the travel in each direction so it doesn't slot in and gets pushed back to the middle. @@SimRacingCorner Ok I decided to try it out, however I can't decide if I take the short knob (like in this video) or the long one from Aliexpress, it's gonna be mainly used for Dirt Rally 2 so sequential if I get it to work but also for road cars in AC. If I take the short knob and would like to change it later, is there a thread underneath the rubber/hot glue stuff we can see at 2:40 in the video? And how is the outer thread (that looks bigger than M8?) for the short knob attached to that rubber?

  • @SimRacingCorner

    @SimRacingCorner

    2 жыл бұрын

    I'd have to cut that off to check to if it's threaded, so I can't do that. I would expect it is M8 threaded, like the microswitched version of this shifter design I reviewed previously. The shaft is the same width/length.

    No, but it's probably out of the same factory because they're very close, and the differences are probably minor revisions/improvements. The differences I see are a one piece shell instead of two, surface mount hall effect sensors instead of thru hole, and yellow (weaker) springs instead of blue. It should be easy to find different "mould die springs" if you don't like the yellows. The most significant change is the surface mount hall effect sensors. This design should result in more consistent build quality.

    I've read many people complain about problems with the Hall effect switches on this shifter. Is that only a defect that happens when new, or will they be troublesome with age and use? Yours obviously worked correctly when new - have you had any problems with it since? No big deal if I get a dud and have to return it, but I'm trying to figure out if there's any risk of it failing after the return period has ended. I'm interested in anybody's experience with this shifter's long term reliability. I'm looking at the TOCITAA branded version on Amazon, which appears to be the same. Anybody know for sure? I'm more comfortable with microswitches because I'm more confident I can repair that one if it breaks. But I'd need to dampen the noise on that one, and I know you've said this Hall version has a better feel.

    All you need to do is plug it into your PC, and map the gears in the game.

    So it shows up as a device in the game controllers? Also, do you have hall sensor version or microswitched?

    man i just ordered the one from your other video and now this. that sucks! Why doesn't the seller say that in their listing? like they make it appear just like the other model and this one is clearly superior. that sucks for me

    Do what I did. Turn the other one into sequential shifter and use this as your shifter. My setup now consist of lever handbrake, sequential shifter and hand shifter lol

    @@foaley77 I actually returned this. I did not like the neutral position of the shaft, because it ends up hitting the gates between 3rd and 4th gear. Because of this, it's annoying and not smooth when you switch between 3rd or 4th gear(or whatever gear you set above and below the neutral position) I kept the first version since it was so easy to mod to make it quieter and have less resistance. Not to mention, can be converted to sequential shifter on the fly. It's pretty much perfect once you mod it. Let me know if you're interested with the mods I did. But to answer your question: I bought a simracing L clamp to add additional add-ons on my stand. It's pretty much universal solution for more add-ons on your stand/cockpit
