Heres a crackpit theory but we never hear any mention of Titanic anywhere. What if this series is the aftermath of someone time traveling to prevent the titanic disaster? The mesh is basically something caused by a rift in time, a sort of glitch caused by a singular event ceasing to exist. Plus Lusitania suffered the same exact fate as Titanic, as if it was preordained to happen no matter what. Just my two cents on the series.

@@YYGGDB Aye, though remember that this is a different Lusitania disaster in this continuity. The phrasing that someone or something "would" not let them out makes me think that it might be getting crossed over with the common myths surrounding gates on the Titanic. Plus, the Lusitania (1997) trailer seems to imply that Lusitania's power stayed on for MUCH longer than it did during her historical sinking.

The elevator door could signify that although the power seemed to have stayed on for longer in the movie, it could have been inaccurate. The power could have shut down much earlier trapping people in the elevators leaving the to drown.

Analog horrors are dime a dozen these days, with varying levels of quality. This one, however, I am proud to call a diamond in the rough. Always wanted a series focused on "haunted" ships and wrecks thereof. I eagerly await more!

There's text on-screen at 2:16 I'll elaborate on it below, concealing it under the "Read more" link for those who want to find it themselves first: All we see of it is, "ROGANCE OF MAN TO BE" "THINKING NATURE IS IN HIS" As far as I can find, the full message might be, "IT'S THE ARROGANCE OF MAN TO BE THINKING NATURE IS IN HIS CONTROL," in which case it could be a slightly misquoted reference to the Godzilla (2014) line, "The arrogance of men is thinking nature is in our control and not the other way around."

Anyways, time for my proposed explanation: "The Mesh" originated from the tortured souls of all the Lusitania passengers and crew trapped below (possibly on purpose) when she sank. In 1911, Mauritania unwittingly passed over the wreck and became "infected" by the Mesh, which absorbed all her passengers and crew. The same happened to Olympic months later after stumbling upon Mauritania adrift. Based on the photo that briefly flashed into view at 0:41, it's implied that other Cunard and White Star ships were "infected" as well.

0:42 VERY late discovery here, but for A SINGLE FRAME of this timestamp, there's an image that flashes on screen of a bunch of ocean liners gathered together in one place, with partially cut off text underneath that seems to end with the phrase "WANT TO HEAR" as best I can make it out

The liners in question are (from left to right) Homeric, Olympic, Berengaria, and Aquitania. They’re in Southampton, in the 1920s iirc. Personally I think this tells us a few things about this universe: WW1 happened in this world, Germany lost and was forced to hand over some of its ships as in real life, and Homeric and Berengaria were those ships. If Berengaria is there in the Cunard fleet, that means she’s replacing another big liner that was lost in the war, which must be Mauretania since Aquitania is in the picture and we know Lusitania is this universe’s Titanic. So did Mauretania sink during WW1, then?

@@nursestoyland She likely would’ve been put back into service after Olympic found her. If she wasn’t severely physically damaged Cunard definitely would’ve wanted the pride of its fleet back in service as soon as possible

The elevator grate that flashes onscreen at 2:12 isn’t one of Lusitania’s elevators - it’s a pantry hoist from Olympic. Jack is too meticulous for that to be a simple oversight, and an unspecified freight elevator on Olympic is mentioned to be acting up in the intro…

I feel like a lot of sunken/scrapped ships would be ghost ships in a universe similar to the universe of TUGS (if anybody even knows what tugs was)

I've seen that footage pop up in all sorts of documentaries and whatnot passed off as Titanic or Lusitania. It was even used in A Night to Remember to portray Titanic's departure from Southampton. And now I finally have a name for this "mystery" stock footage ship. Thank you!

@@HedgeFox21 It could also be distorting history by simply existing, where liners that did sink are sinking like others. In this case Lusitania's fate was that of Titanic's, so if this is the logic the series will go by, Titanic will be in Lusitania's shoes, and also a lesser known maritime disaster that's like the only other one brought up in history textbooks and the media.
