I used to work 60 hours/week until I had stage 4 cancer 8 years ago. Suddenly I realized I needed to live my life because I never know when it will be over. I got a job working remote living at the place where I used to vacation. Could I make more money? Sure. But now I work to live not live to work.

My family has had at least 2 people serve in wars or the Military in some capacity since WW1 in every generation. Not a single one of us, I never served, would even consider burning the Flag. I

After we both spent 1 enlistment in the Marine Corps, my husband and I met after we both came home to Texas. We had nothing but our GI bills, minimum wage jobs, and a $500/month apartment. My ring was $700, our wedding was $5000 tops on a Sunday afternoon followed by work in the morning. That was 13 years ago. Today I homeschool our 3 wonderful sons in our 2000sqft suburb house, within walking distance of our church. We love our life, and wouldn't change a thing.

I'm in Texas as well,homeschool mom that lives on family farm. I had a $100 dollar ring and we drove to Colorado with our travel trailer and married ourselves in the mountain. We spent like $400 on the whole trip. That was 30 yrs ago. Life works so much better when you aren't chasing money and just work with what you have. We have our 14 yr old twin boys left at home. All of our kids have a huge work ethic but their faith and family is always first. They all are 1st responders or nurses. Thank yall for your service ❤

I think there’s two “project 2025s”. One that is put together by the heritage foundation and one that the democrats are peddling. Similar to the “don’t say gay” bill, the democrats are saying there’s a bunch of stuff in there that’s not in there so my conclusion is they must be talking about a different project 2025; one that they made up to fear monger and that’s the one Trump is distancing himself from. “Project 2025” is such a generic name. Aside from our reception, I spent under $100 for my wedding. Only $50 on my dress, and $35 on flowers. We had an outdoor wedding. My Dad nearly fainted when he got the check for our meal at a nice restaurant (13 people) for a sit-down meal.

Minute 25, Adam spoke and I wasn't totally tuned out!! He was talking some real stuff.. way to go Adam..

The whole team is out of touch with WFH employees. This whole podcast was done remotely which proves they can post a successful podcast without sitting next to eachother. Thats the irony of this conversation because plenty of employees are happier and more productive overall working from home. People save money on work clothes (Tom in his dad shorts), gas, car insurance, car maintenance, parking and eating out for lunch by WFH. FYI, when bosses want an update like you mention, a simple message on Microsoft teams, video call or phone call will suffice. This is 2024 not 2004. Remote work options bring in a larger talent pool and doesnt geographically lock you to local talent.

Got eloped in Las Vegas, went on a road trip, and attended two concerts-best decision ever. We saved a lot and had a blast. Our rings cost about $150 each. We are in good financial shape and want to keep it that way. Keeping up with the Joneses never made sense to me. We are able to go on another concert road trip from California to Las Vegas. We used points and credit card perks, like Amex FHR, to save money on food. After utilizing our perks, the hotels for a week will cost us maybe $300. The flight was the most expensive part, but we were fine with it since we saved money elsewhere. We are very blessed and grateful. We scaled back our expenses during Joe Biden’s term because we saw the writing on the wall, and it has been another great decision.

I disagree with the notion that staying at home and working is a bad idea. My wife cannot work from home, and if I had to go into the office, it would hinder her pursuit of becoming an optometrist. We have a 2-year-old who was born at 27 weeks and spent 82 days in the NICU. Additionally, working from home allows me to get closer to my goal of writing a novel, as I save time on commuting. Affordable housing is far from the city, making commuting even less practical. The views expressed by the PBD podcast don't resonate with me. They may make sense for new college graduates or those focused on climbing the corporate ladder, but my goal is to retire as soon as possible to spend more time with my family. It hurts when my daughter asks for me while I'm stuck in meetings. Many corporate jobs feel unfulfilling, filled with endless meetings and busywork. The real solution is to run organizations better, eliminate waste, and inspire employees with a compelling vision. Micromanaging is counterproductive and doesn't contribute to a positive work environment.

Please don't spend that much on a wedding. It's not worth it. The ceremony really lasts less that 15 minutes, and you or your wife will never wear the wedding dress again(you won't fit into it). The food you eat will end up in the toilet the next day. Save the money for a holiday...or a car, or down payment on a house. Saying this as a 11 year married woman. I spend a $1500 on my wedding. Did most of the work myself. I was so proud and pleased, didn't have any complaints. My husband did upgrade my ring the following year, and as we had planned, to the date, we got our first house 1 year exactly as planned with all the money we saved. We had 20 guests at our wedding that we all knew and loved! Do accept gifts, welcome gifts, if a family member wants to spend a fortune on flowers, etc. You barely think about your wedding after it has happened, give it a year. Married same ages as you guys lol no purses and stuff, but computers and things like that between us instead since we like gaming and all that 😂 our marriage was under a covered bridge in simple, everyday black clothing we aleady owned, my mom spent $60 on my nails 😆 I picked out my own ring for $150, a short stay in a local Victorian B&B for our honeymoon which thankfully was only booked by us! Still in our first home bought for 150k, almost a decade ago, after saving a lot (no mortgage), a single used car, and no kids yet because we're working on moving/making business plans to really solidify our income and start seriously family planning.

Nothing else. I picked up a lot of extra shifts, worked in factories 6 days a week, 12 hours a day, etc. It's really shitty but you will see your savings start rising

PBD demonstrated how out of touch he is today. "Work-life balance doesn't mean anything. You should just work 24/7." While they do a podcast with them all very clearly still on vacation. I'm sick and tired of these millionaires and billionaires saying crap like this and then doing the exact opposite. Imagine how fast Valuetainment would collapse if Pat went into work on Monday, and told his employees they no longer get sick days, vacation time, no holidays, and they had to work from 6am - 9pm. Every last person would quit that day and he'd be hit with so many lawsuits he'd collapse from the sheer weight. Yet him and Tom wanna run out from their vacation spots and tell their viewers, "You gotta work all the time" Even the work from home stuff, they're all sitting there saying "Don't work from home or remotely" while they're, you guessed it, working from home/remotely. This is something y'all really need to stop doing because not only are you not currently practicing what you preach, but I can guarantee neither of them practiced it when they were building their businesses.
