Project 098 | Making a velocity stacks for cafe racer
Ғылым және технология
A relatively easy construction is what we have made for this week compared to the rest that we have uploaded on our channel. In favour of a friend of us we made two velocity staks.

Cool... keeps us interested with short bursts of Make Extreme
I owned a R50/3 for several years, love the BMW boxers. Nice project. Thanks for sharing and best regards from the UK.
Man, what a beautiful job! And what a beautiful bike!!! 😮 For me, whatever you guys do... I'm here to watch! 😊
Love to see your projects come together, no matter on the difficulty... Thanks for sharing!
1'000'000 Subscribers! Congratulations!!!! Your vids are awesome, and really educational! Thx for all!
Nice little project - happy to see more of these in between the bigger ones. Looking forward to see what you have planned for 0100... 👍😊
Congratulations on breaking through the 1 million subscriber mark. You deserve it. Your videos are awesome.
Love the variety of projects, so glad to see a mix of depths. Videoing projects takes more planning for the shot sequences, with your edits in-mind as well. Even a short video can take a day or three, so I can imagine your longer works take quite a bit of time and effort. Your edits, showing one piece, then quick slices of the "then we did two more" and highlights of the trickier technical work, are *golden*. I so enjoy what's in front and behind the camera that I have to comment in thanks and appreciation. The project selections are all something I'd like and I can imagine how much fun that bike is.
My kingdom for a mill/drill/lathe combo... Beautiful work!
Much prefer the big "Extreme" Builds, but anything you guys do I will watch, you are excellent, keep on keeping on brothers 👍
I appreciate both styles of videos! Keep doing what you do, guys. Any new content types like easy projects will be well received.
Great. A joy to watch a craftsman. Produce go fast shiny bits and then hear the bike lift up its head and roar down the road.
Love how you turned these instead of using pipes and welding them, great work 👍
A tip for dividing into 3 on the lathe (for the tapping & drilling ) is to use a suitable length of rod between the lathe bed and the side of a jaw on the chuck... 3 jaws = 3 divisions !! Works great & saves the time of setting up the dividing head .... 😎👍☘
More motorcycle related videos please!! keep up the best work!

I needs friends like you guys, closer to where I live (I own a 1976 R75/6 café racer)... This was really well done!
Awesome video. The precision is amazing. 👍
Beautiful and really good work ! And engraving is a great touch. It's not common on this kind of parts !
I like the new format without music.
Hi, I like your videos, especially everything that deals with motorbikes and their parts! I would like to see more of this stuff !
great project and a beautiful bike!
Sometimes it’s all about looks, and this looks good! 👍🏻
Short and awesome. More vids is always better from you boys.
I love all your vids and keep up the awesome work
i'll love everything that you'll upload
Exellent,greetings from colombia.
It’s ASMR - Make It Extreme edition. Absolutely satisfying to watch. Keep doing what you do!
It's cool to watch you make things out of metal. It doesn't really make a difference what it is. I like your constructions because they are made with quality and longevity in mind.
When the video is without music, it is better and more beautiful. I love hearing instrument sounds while I'm working. We hope the following videos are without the music sounds. You are a wonderful creator
Wow simply amazing the guy is a master at its craft
Absolutely gorgeous pieces.
Gorgeous parts! I love it
Yep, would love to see more of these.
I love the look of those boxer engines! nice video!
love your work thank you
Very nice! fits the bike!
Perfekte Arbeit 👍🏼👏🏼
Love that there's no backing track. I like hearing the shop sounds.
Beautiful, bravo !
Nice job. Very impressed video..
Outstanding. 100 Thumbs up.
Very nice work! One thing I want to say: it's nice that you get the outside of the velocity stack shiny, but do not polish the inside. It doesn't have to be rough, the ideal is something simular to glass marble blaster finish. If the inside is shiny as well, gas might form droplets and it is not good. Altought the velocity stack is before carburetor, it is good practise to keep it somewhat rough.
Sin duda los mejores muy buenas soluciones 🙌
Believe it or not you have now informed me as to what a velocity stack is and what is for. Tanks and keep on building . . great vid!

evil brat they misinformed you, because that is not a velocity stack, it's just bling.
Oh my God... would love one of these on my 1976 R100S... another idea would be to make a couple of aluminium admission pipes to replace the original plastic ones but that mlight not be so simple considering their bent shape... Fantastic job
I'm a brand new subscriber that's one awesome job love the ride 🙋♂️🇬🇧
Beautifull upgrade 🙌
That polishing on the end after the laser work gave some scratches...
Good Job 👌🏻 Regards Alex from Germany
i really like heavy-duty stuff but i still enjoy and will watch anything you guys do.
Beautiful bike!
I love the bike. My grandfather always wanted a Boxer BMW with a sidecart but he could never buy one because the were'nt sold in the GDR. When i have the money i want to build one, but living in Germany the Regulations area pain in the ass. I have had the exact same pictures in my had like the one you built.
Nice job !!
Great Job 👊
what kind of product do you use before laser engrave? awesome job!
the one cylinder 4 stroke for each stack.. could get away with just a screen. Find some micron stainless mesh on the web. love that old bimmer flat two.. a legend
That’s neat work 👌
great content, great editing, great making ! Could you quickly explain how you're engraving on metal with a laser ? It seems as if you've coated the polished piece with a compound before lasing, and then remove it. If so, what compound is that ? Can anyone enlighten me?
I am just jealous of your skills !!!! 😖 Very nice work
beautiful job.. but i bet it runs better with the long curving intake ducts from the air box. those curving ducts are also velocity stacks.
@thomaspigg306

Yes, they are in a sense, but they're also very restrictive. A "straight-shot" of air travel is better for performance over a "plumbers-tuba" any day.
@dimitrismanolakis3344

Wayne and Thomas you guys are both right, but the velocity stack doesn't need to be facing forward? For more air to push through the velocity stack to the engine, this method works best in EFI motors , i havent see it before facing backwards... Please correct me if i am wrong, id love to learn some things.
@thomaspigg306

@@@dimitrismanolakis3344; The velocity stacks I bought for my KZ faced backwards. Given the position, I still used a foam/open cellulose breather cover. You'd be surprised at the amount of crap that can be picked-up in the wind vortex.
Lovely mod. Thumbs up!!
All your content is very watchable. If you do more, we'll watch more!
It's refreshing to see " Oldschool " machine work from a true Craftsman. As opposed to C.N.C ! CONGRATS NICE WORK
Does anybody know if this bike's build has been chronicled anywhere? V-stacks aside, there are some other details I'd like more info on for a build I'm working on.
That's some very nice lathe work.
We seem to be missing the video on that bike wheel stand... would love to see it if you have it...it looks like a great idea...absolutely love this channel
That’s sick and a beautiful bike

It appears to be Ceramark. I have used it on aluminum and steel. Works well once you get the laser settings correct.

You are a awesome worker with incredible skills , fantasie for design, but everytime i see your working hands i know why i am wearing gloves whenever possible. i know that many worker say they need to feel more when the working and i thought in this way many years. but then i discovered the very new generations of gloves with perfect fit, no sweat and some with cutting protection for sharp edges. And the best: no cleaning hands 10 times a day! For you there are these black gloves for hairdressers when the dye perfekt. They fit like skin and no sweat and they are cheap. i use them all the time when i am painting or work with epoxy.
Cool bike!
Awesome!!!
interesting , liked the way you made those filters need some velocity stacks for a project in the future , i was thinking on spinning them out of straight aluminium pipe but i dont know if i can do it good enough with the tools i have i think the stacks are a little in the way with where you have the footpegs mounted and you might need to support the carbs at the rear or solid mount them to the cilinders , as they might actually fall off under driving
Great work👍
Bike Parts.. Now you got my Attention..!
Very nice racer, congrats .
Very Nice project. Can you tell me where can I find the exhaust ?
If you want to run stacks, trash the Bings get a set of "race" carbs. Mikunis or Delortos. There are complete drop in kits for that motor/bike. Kits can be optioned with velocity stacks with proper FOD screens that don't impede air flow like a piece of filter shoved down in the carb openings.
Any videos of your is always grear to watch.
Great video! Hey, and there is always room for bespoke motorcycle accessories business. These small videos are as enjoyable as the larger builds. Is the laser etcher new?
Class!!
Sweet ride
Nice work
Espectacular!
Sehr geiles Bike. Weiter so. 👍🏻
Yep small projects like this one are really nice too
The fact that they are pointing backwards will actually cause a negative pressure area to be formed behind the stack, causing it to suck the air out of the carb, COMPLETELY negating any volumetric flow benefit of having a velocity stack design, and in fact impeding air flow performance into the motor
Amazing Amazing Thumbs up Thanks for sharing Peace
Beautiful .Bravi !!!!
what a beautiful machine
Excellent 👌👍
Awesome workmanship, I hope you re jetted the carbs.
I’m sure it’s an “off the shelf item but I like the license plate mount on this bike a lot!
Those look great but cutting the filter area down by 90% will create too much of a restriction at high rpms and the engine will run rich and lose power. You need to use a more porous filter to maintain the peak power of the engine but that will reduce the engine life.
@chrisstephens6673

And at full flow it might get sucked into the engine as there appears to be little support.

@@konradhryniewicki7956 how true. I once had to repair a Kawasaki that had part of a sweet wrapper stuck in the carb(no air filter) the rest of it got blown out of the exhaust!
@Finnishia

If you switch from the original airbox to a pod filter you will get more air and run lean. I would equate these much more to pod filters than the default airbox regarding airflow, but it's hard to say for sure without measuring the exhaust or running the bike more. Some kinda rejetting is surely needed.
Very nice motorcycle ,I like it.
Good video Would love too see a video of how u made the stand
That is fantastic. They look brilliant. But now the carbs are no longer attached to the air box, will they vibrate badly on the manifold rubbers?
