Project 0126 | Sheet Metal Roller Bender
The tool that we have made this time is very useful as using it we can bend metal sheets and create corners without using heavy equipment like the hydraulic sheet metal bender. Needless to say that we cannot use it to bend thick sheets but we can easily move it and take it to our outdoor activities.

sorry, but this tool (as it is amazingly crafted) is art for just an art....

Is that a issue? A heavily engraved hammer works the same as a crude one but is still nicer to own and view. Sometimes it's nice to take that extra ornamental step

Anyone who doesn't think metalworking is an art, can eat swarff out of the chip pan and lick slag off of the floor. They can drink some cutting oil if they get thirsty.
The lathe is truly the prince of all machines, you can do almost anything on them! Well done!

At first, I wondered why he was using the lathe to face the Aluminium, instead of milling it- it all became apparent very quickly. Just a pleasure to watch him at work!

A Lathe is the only machine that you can use to build itself.
Comparing this to modern commercially available roller benders, it's plain to see that this design isn't quite there. However, it was definitely a brave try. Hopefully, you'll get it spot on in version 2 or 3. I greatly appreciate you being brave enough to try, then sharing your successes and failures with us!
Spiral taps, has got to be the greatest engineered device known to man. Got to love those things. 👍
I am so impressed with how far your skills have developed over the years. This has to be one of the more complex designs yet, bloody good work. :)

The boring head held in the chuck is genius
Let me say that whoever put this video together is very talented indeed! This is a very fun video to watch! The pacing, the content presentation, the music, lighting, everything was excellent and absolutely pleasurable to watch! Keep this kind of thing going and you will be creating content for television and movies!
Watching that spiral tap close up was mesmerizing. Beautiful work as always.
Very inventive use of the lathe for some of those steps. Loved that radius turner. Beautiful looking product, shame about its function not producing crisp bends.
I don't know anything about machining, but I do know that camerawork like this I have never seen on KZread. Great job!

The machining of that angled part was bloody brilliant.
Very impressed with your machining and videography, even if the end result seems a bit lacking. Maybe an adjustable opposing vee roller for the back side of the bend as a follow up project?

He has high quality in machining but,the bending results is terrible.
A good tool, a lot of time spent on manufacturing. But this tool is not often needed.. I am from Russia and I really like your content. class for hard work and respect.
I watch these projects knowing I will never make. Yet always impressed by your work.
Hot Damn all your work is Amazing. I shared one of your videos to my son which encouraged his son to take up machining and fabrication as an apprentice. Thank you for showing the way. 🙏😎
Thank you for your contribution to the evolution of life.
I really do appreciate the skill that went into making this... awesome talents there, but was disappointed in the quality of the bend in the sheet metal. It seems to my mind that there should be a corresponding male & female Vee rollers with an adjustable clearance between those. Will I make one? Probably not. 😀

english wheel meets bead roller.. all it needs is can opener and you could make gutters allday.. now how convenient is a bend around a radius gonna be !!
awesome build. everytime i watch one of yalls videos just wish it would be alittle more on the teaching side. the skill that you have with maching is awesome. but no matter what i'm gonna keep on watching for the entertainment value. keep em coming and i'll keep on watching. this is one of the best youtube channels
Some day I want to get close to the production quality of your videos, amazing work, keep it up.
Your job bring peaceful, and makes us want to watch more and more. Congratulate very well done.
Amazing how many operations you can do with only one lathe. Great technological process, thanks!
Very cool how you managed to angle the ends with a boring bar! 1st time I’ve ever seen that.
Very nice Tool Build. Although you can buy this type of Tool, you'd miss out on the fun of making it. Thanks for sharing your Skills and Knowledge with me.
I'm from Brazil, your videos enchant me thank you for posting your work.

OMG! What a great job. I have never seen machining skills on this level before. What do I do to acquire such skills?
Milling is always relaxing to see and knownig the next part to come next.
Some piece of work there guys. The production of you’re videos is top notch! Keep it up. Take care.
About 1:42 moment: One Odessa turner-metalworker says the phrase "like a plum in the ass", meaning that the parts fit together exactly. XD Good job, nice to see you! Good luck with your projects.
Very professional and fine job. Lovely.
jaw dropping video aswell as a jaw dropping craftsmanship...
Great video such a crafted tool be engineered thank you for sharing 😊
Great job, thank you brother. You are so talented
Nice build! This will surely get you out off a pinch.
Nice work, especially the creative use of the boring head for creating that angled part on the shaft. I just wonder, how can you adjust for different sheet thicknesses? By rotating the angled piece?

Pretty interesting project, dude! 😃 Fantastic how it works!!! Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Amazing workpiece guys thanks 🙏
I've never seen a six jaw used like this! And I'm not sure why more people don't face material down on the lathe rather than milling. Your results are fantastic!

It's just quicker, easier and more precise to face something down with the mill and face cutter. Using a lathe like that is more about improvise
I had a zero clue what was being built until 18:50 😂 Great build and beautiful tool!
My goodness... You have RE_INVENTED The English Wheel! You're a genius! I wish I still had a workshop. btw You need to Treat yourself to A Plasma Cutter!!! beats grinding for hours - changing discs etc!

That was a lot of work for something that seems less extreme than a panbrake folder, that's also a lot slower and less accurate to use too.
Ok, This is one of your best videos, I've really enjoyed watching it. Keep on the good work ...
Beautiful bender. We shared this video in our homemade tools forum this week :)
hey man, love your work! Keep it going!

Very well Done... AGAIN
That's super impressive.

Nice one, some good music for a change too.
Good work. I enjoy your videos. I have a small project idea. I always break a can opener or it goes dull. Why don't you make an extreme can opener for me if I ever decide to travel half the world and collect it personally : )
Give this man a CNC and he will build a rocketship

Genial!!!
Curious about the roller ears - score/bend/weld vs just bend? is there an advantage to how you bent over the ears vs just bending them in the vice? Thanks for your channel. It's been really fun watching over the years. Many, many ideas flow in my head because of yours. I'll let you know from the hospital if any were bad. ha! Thank you for sharing your creations.

I need this tool. For the detractors they are bending what looks like straight edges but I have a curved edge I need to bend and this would be perfect
Great videos!! Love your channel

Extreme!

I had no idea what it was for until the end. I still don't really. A metal folder would do the same but better. What am I missing here ?

@Lissopen

I built a brake out of 1/4 thick angle iron and gate hinges bolted to my wood desk in about 2 hours and it leaves crisp corners.....this is not good design.
Very very good

Amazing lathe work! Maybe, you can try inverse outer threading, with tool in chuck, for next time :D But what happens with your Heavy Metal sound? I don't like this "Nobody hurts" compositions... :(
