Progressivism and the Successor Ideology w/ Author Wesley Yang

Progressivism seems to have both changed radically, with new understandings of identity and racism, and risen dramatically to positions of power, from corporate HR departments to public school systems to federal agencies, and now challenges hitherto widespread assumptions about the justice of colorblind law and freedom of speech. Is this a new ideology, and if so, what is its structure, and how did it rise so quickly in influence? Author Wesley Yang discusses his analysis of this remarkable inflection point in American politics with SPA professor G. Borden Flanagan.

Expect big things from Wesley Yang's thought and writing. His choice of words and methods of explaining these concepts are unparalleled. He will be the one who delineates these concepts and turn them into an understandable phenomena that can then be avoided. 1:04:30 "The continually vanishing horizon" "An unappeasable appetite" This man assembles thoughts into phrases that express the concepts with such crystalline perfection. There is no logically defined end-point to what this successor ideology seeks- no absolute principles or values... and this condition of ill-conceived values creates an infinitely unreachable boundary.

I would like to hear Yang's thoughts on the wedge between progressives who are rewarded/employed by the institutional apparatus and those who are essentially an overeducated activist underclass. This in my opinion is the biggest sore spot in sucessor ideology, and what keeps it from collapsing could be the faint promise for many of the latter to eventually partake in the former (through naked sycophantism, if necessary). Needless to say, this is a sad state of affairs. At least the leftists of the 60´s knew university administrations could not be trusted wielding any kind of moral authority
