Very informative very comprehensive

Flew my first RC aircraft in 1974 on the iconic orange Kraft 4-Channel analog radio with Crystals. Recently got back into it (I retired!). What a time to be alive! I’ll be installing an AS3X/SAFE compatible receiver in the Arrows Edge 540 soon (removing the Reflex module). This was very helpful, Gary; thanks much.

Had my Air Tractor out for the 1st time yesterday. Was able to setup with what you taught me. Flight went well other than it was nose heavy. Center of gravity seems harder to find on my low wing Tractor compared to high wing Aeroscout. Can't wait to fly again but snow and slop is back in the forecast!

This vid was alot of help. Thanks! Im setting up an ar630 from a crashed f15 eagle in an Avistar nitro trainer. Got it all working now. Gonna be cool to have a nitro plane with safe and as3x!

OK great informative video, you didn't do any of the confusing gains settings. The way you did it seems to have skipped those. I watched the HH version of this and got way confused with all the extra gains settings.

If you watch my flight video you will see that I had some oscillation and had to turn down the gains.

Hey Gary, this is a great starting setup for a AR630. I placed one in my TopRC P51 750mm and it fly's great with this setup. I think having 30% expo on all my surfaces helps too. 🤗

@@IJustGotHere Yeah, I incorporated Fat Guy Flies RC's tutorial on setting up AS3X. Worked out pretty well so far.

Great video! I was looking for SAFE information online. It’s just not very clear. Lots of references to “flight envelope”. Very little information, explaining what that means. Like you said, “just a quick video for asc and Safe”! Perfect! THX!

I upgraded from my DX8 gen 1 to a new NX8 ..so switching over all my planes that have safe and smart to the NX8

Thanks G-Pa Gary! You make it look easy, and you mention on most of your videos that you have programmed SAFE on your planes when you fly them. I'm just getting into programming and have the Freewing 70mm F-16 and want to program that with a Spektrum receiver. I'd love to download the EFlite data from their F-16, but don't know how that works. I hear people mention it though. Thanks again.

Wow!! Absolutely golden video!! I'm a newbie in that I've never programmed a receiver. As luck has it, I found this video which is EXACTLY what I need. My FlightLine P-51 is arriving anyday now, my AR630 is already here and my NX6 is ready for it's first Forward Programming job!! I noticed you didn't show your gains values, but adusted them during the maiden. Anyway you could share those roll, pitch, yaw numbers now? Thanks alot Gary!!

You might need to fine tune the gains for the AS3X. I did. I had a little oscillation on the maiden.

Hello, great videos! I have a question: Can I easily set up the DX6 transmitter with the AR630 receiver without using a PC, as shown in your video, in order to activate the gyro ? Thx:)

Yes, I think that is possible.

I have an NX 6 and an AR 631 from my Eflite Trojan 1.1 which I dumb thumbed into a power nose in. Probably not worth fixing so I would like to use that receiver in my Tower Kaos 60. Any idea of what gain settings I would use?

It is always best practice, but..... I've been known to just use it myself. 🤷

Hi Gary I jest bought the dx6 and a ar630 receiver for the xfly a-10 thunderbolt 50mm and was doing the your setup and I have a problem after the radio setup I did the binding like you did and all works well but I have no throttle can you help me with this ? and I put a flysky fsi6b receiver in to check the throttle and it works I can't figure out why the ar630 receiver has no throttle

@@IJustGotHere yes and I turned it on and still did not work then I uninhibited it so there was no throttle cut still dident work but then I put a flysky fsi6b receiver in it and it works got me puzzled
