I did raise an eyebrow at Book saying it's a "time of peace" now... when the galaxy just got over a Temporal Cold War, then the Burn basically removed all interstellar infrastructure, then the 10C almost killed everyone; oh and half the galaxy is ruled by Orion slavers, the Breen and the Tholians.

I think the bit on connection is more that connection is only possible if you choose to put in the work, not that choosing to put in the work guarantees connection

Imagine someone on Earth 800 years ago, stashing something in a Polar Ice Cap, hoping that the Polar Bears would keep people away..... Or all the Indigenous peoples of the world, hiding stuff in the deep dark forest, because no man would tread there.... and now it's under a shopping mall.

I also thought about "what if those animals didn't have their breeding ground anymore?" But I think they chose that place on Trill specifically as it's a planet that respects and protects wildlife.

3:24 He didn't simply lead them to their deaths. He _asked_ them first. Very explicitly: "These answer you seek. If I give them to you, they might cost you your life." 3:45 Why would they move on? It was a naturally good nesting spot for them and made of rock - so it would not errode anytime soon. And they might have a return instinct like Salmons or Sharks. So short of their whole species dying out, there would be there. And he probably had another test in case they weren't, wherever he hid the piece.

The episode was pretty good, but my biggest problem with it was when Jinaal basically said “don’t treat every alien thing you see like it’s a monster”, well uh sorry Star Trek you don’t get to say that after making the gorn into monsters. Especially since the original point of the episode the gorn were introduced in was that message, and now since they’re just monsters, that message just doesn’t work anymore. But anyways if they’re going to tzenketh I’m excited that we might see canonical tzenkethi designs, and I really hope they go with the online ones.

I think the idea behind the Gorn in SNW is to have our characters thinking they're monsters, while we know it's more complicated than that. I don't think the Gorn are actually supposed to be pure evil, just terrifying and different. There are clues scattered about that they are more complicated than they seem even in that show.

I was having a hard time with how they use teleporters and how they don't The spot to spot is cool but they don't seem to use it when they need to they have occasionally described how it's blocked but another times they're actively using it but don't use it to get away to come back later to jump on the other side that kind of stuff

I think the canyon scene could have been a bit better if Jinaal was just actually wondering the canyon to find a danger nest to send the crew into as a test and there was nothing to find at the location while he went and got the item from another location while they were busy with the creature. This would have covered over the 800 year time jump a bit better, or maybe the Bix hosts have simply kept the item over the 800 years and he had it the whole time they were on walk about looking for the nest

It's different then prior shows in a lot of ways, but it really depends what that means to you. If Star Trek is about feeling like the 80-90s shows in tone I think it's pretty different, if it's more about themes I think it'll feel familiar.

It all feels forced . There are hardly any characters that act professional in the show. Its more about feelings. How they feel. It seems like they are trying to emulate Picard season 3 to a point but keep missing the target. I really haven't liked any of STD. Although this season so far is ....... watchable

This season better explain why the heck the current starfleet *doesnt* have an Enterprise. Because this is an Enterprise level type mission. If it literally werent for the plot contrivence that Disco is the most functional ship in the 32nd century, it would not be the ship assigned for this mission.

  • @davidgeslani48

Idk, Enterprise is more like a top-line ship used on the fringes of Federation space, to show potential members the best the Federation has to offer or to showcase Federation power in border regions just in case potentially hostile factions get any ideas. This was its main mission in ENT, TOS, SNW, and TNG movies. The main time that the Enterprise is shown to be the premiere scientific vessel was in TNG where it’s more like a city in space and had enough space to carry numerous labs and civilian scientists.
