This entire album is a masterpiece! It's beautifully recorded, has great songs, moody and atmospheric sounscapes and lots of Frippery....what's not to love? If you're not into this type of music, skip it...but if you love music that open world's up to you...........proceed.
Great review. GTE was my initiation into Sylvian. Bought the cassette around 1990 never having heard him or Japan. Was blown away. Cassette had the full album with all instrumental pieces. Then got the UK CD. Then the Weatherbox so all the tracks on CD. GTE is his masterpiece IMO.
_Gone to Earth_ was a challenge for me... At first, it sounded a bit murky and turgid. But upon listening to it and giving it a chance it becomes mellow and meditative... Sylvian doesn't appear much on the second volume. Fripp and other great artists like Bill Nelson take on Sylvian's compositions in tone and take an almost improv approach. Nice Review ⏺ Very fair assessment........
