I don’t believe the brave men and woman are the objection by most Americans. People value military service in our country and appreciate all of those folks. I think the reason Americans get frustrated is because they question the motives of the government to engage in areas of the world where it appears to have nothing to do with defense. That said, the professor needs to shut his mouth. If a person wants to give a gift to a service member then that’s an act of kindness. I’m sure that veteran has been through plenty and a little comfort on a flight seems like an honorable thing to do in appreciation.

The only reason he is not going down in flames for his disgusting comment is because it is directed at white people. If he would have commented on another race, all hell would break loose. Never ceases to amaze me how these supposedly educated elites think they know how the real world works and what real people want and think. Having disrespect for our military is offensive and hurtful. The only reason he is saying all this is because he knows he can. Saying the same comments living in other particular countries might very well get him a long jail sentence or much worse. These kinds of people are as ignorant as they get. Don't forget...many of these professors are only on campus because they somehow got passing grades on their research papers and thesis...everyday common sense and true reality evades them as often as does the concept of a pot of boiling water.

Now it's like they look for the ones with the most radical political views. Ones that think they are up on a high horse and we should be licking their boots. I started college in and out of a wheel chair before I got my SD trained to help me stay balanced to walk. One professor kicked me out of her class. Said she didn't like liars, and that she better not see me with my wheelchair again or she would report me to the campus for fraud. When I told the disability dept, the worker was LIVID. Because she knew all my issues. We told her as much info as we had about them so she could help us. I just wouldn't share my whole file with everyone.... Oh did the professor get pissed. She refused to let me in class or give me my work, not even thru email! I do what I do just fine, I just get tired easier. She got fired the next semester cuz she had used up all her chances pulling that crap with me XD So did the IT guy that kept giving me the run around after he accidently put a virus on my brand new pc. Kept giving me numbers that were fake so he wouldn't have to bother. And when I'd wait in line for help he'd work around me :/ They r ridiculous, and I'm in Texas! None of them even heard my political views and were already triggered by me... And im just like WTF IM the one with chronic pain having to live around my disabilities... What right do u have to tell me I bring YOU down just by rolling in the classroom door!? -.-'

Interesting. I wonder how well the "satire is protected speech" argument would hold up if a professor called for black genocide.

When I was in the service, I had to fly home for a funeral. At that time I was injured and using crutches. While boarding this flight the attendants said there was an empty seat nearest the exit door and asked if I would rather be seated there. I did refuse but they were very persistent. Lucky for me these awesome people gave me back a little bit of kindness. I graciously excepted the seat. There are times when some people through their kindness restore ones faith in humanity.

Never send your kids to Drexel or any other university near New York, California or Chicago.

If someone pays for something, like a first-class airline seat, it is theirs to do with as they please.

My great uncle served in WWII and Korea. When he passed some 10 years ago, my father presented me with his American flag that was draped on his coffin before my flight home my mother sewed a canvas bag to protect the case my uncle's flag was incased in. When I boarded the plane to go home and to take my seat just behind the first class bulkhead a flight attendant told me I had to store it in the overhead compartment. I told her that it wasn't going to happen, that the flag will have to remain in my eyesight for the trip she understood and let it remain in my hands. A first class passenger must have overheard the exchange, I'm not sure but once in flight the kind gentlemen offered me his seat. I, not having served in the military respectively declined for that reason and that a service man or woman was more worthy of that honor. 10 minutes into the flight that same first class passenger was seated next to me and bought me a beer while giving up his seat to a service woman returning home from Afghanistan. The flight was from Newark to Tampa. To that gentlemen thank you again for the beer and giving up your seat for the men and women who serve our country. To the professor who talked crap over someone giving up their 1st class seat to our men and women in service......... Renounce your citizenship and leave the USA

A couple of years back, I was in first-class on a long-distance Amtrak train and met a young married Marine and father of two who told me he had done two stints in Iraq. He had originally booked a small roomette, but he told me Amtrak upgraded him to a large room with no extra charge. I was very proud of Amtrak for doing that!

Saw a "kid" in uniform at the airport years ago. He was on his way home for leave. At the hotel bar, we all collectively got the guy good and drunk . Also bought him a steak with all the goodies. Robert Brown It does not matter what school your son is going to. If you're making decisions for him at that age, that just shows he's incapable of thinking for himself. Might want to change the major to something more simple and easier to understand, just like the requirements for military service.

Mark Lu(ser)...How can you make such a moronic post when you don't even know my family? Of course, you're Chinese, so that says a lot. Chinese are noted to be some of the rudest people in the world and you fit right in there with them. BTW, my son actually ended up at Princeton on a 100% free ride. It wasn't just because that the professor from Drexel didn't give up his seat that changed my son's mind, but other factors as well.

Did he still attend John's Hopkins at any point? Because I can tell you from working on that campus for nearly 10 years, they are almost just as liberal as this professor...

I gave up my first class seat to a professor, and he told me I was stupid

A man once treated an 18 year old me to breakfast, because I was in the service, and he wanted to show respect to our troops. I try every so often to pass that along out of respect for him! God bless unselfish acts of kindness from people!

Unfortunately, Drexel is NOT the only one. Most, if not all public and private secular universities are like this--indoctrinating their students into communism/hate/destruction of America. About the only safe place to school your kids these days--even at the elementary school level--is home or a Christian school. Freedom of speech should NOT include supporting/promoting communism/socialism/fascism as these are all completely antithetical to our Constitution, and should be considered as treason, nothing less.

True story. I always fly first class and part of the reason is so if I get the opportunity and see a young man/woman in uniform, I can give them my seat. It's just a show of respect and a very, very small thank you for what they do.

Ladies and gentlemen this is who is educating the next generation of world leaders...

@@michaels2136 If you could contextualize written text, you would understand that OP has concluded that this particular professor is dumb, because according to him, he doesn't even have to hear what a professor wants to say, he knows it is going to be dumb anyway. It is irrelevant that this particular professor was dumb or not, in fact if you could understand what you read, you could have concluded from my first comment, that I agree that this professor was dumb. So simple.

I think most soldiers are taught to shake it off..i don't think he or she would have retaliated. At least that's what my veteran son has told me. Now of the professor pushed him out of the seat..thats an act of aggression..whole other story.

Let him start his own business and all his money into, work 12-hour days, meet payroll, and thousands of governmental rules. That is the real world professor. And what that soldier was doing to protect your rights....is the real world. You do not seem to be part of the real world : high salary, multo benefits, great healthcare, and a nice pension. I wish you would go into the sunset sooner, rather than later.

freedom is not free.. I read it I my last trip to Washington as a foreigner tourist... in a beautiful monument. And that sentence is true... I found sad that some Americans are unable to understand a selfless action they brother's have made for other people. I praise America in their effort to expand freedom on the world!, and even I a foreign traveler can relate to those words... when Chile freed from communism was not free, what we paid on the proses was a terrible price, but now we live free.
