Lalah is pronounced "Lay-lah", daughter of Donnie Hathaway. She has been doing polyphonic singing for over 30 years, since her early teens. Check out her interview with Terrell.
I've never seen so many people just sitting and listening to a recording session, though I did notice some of them clapping which makes me wonder if that's part of why they had them on stage. Listening to the original I hear them cheering after her chord singing too. I also noticed how incredibly warm and organic the mix is; I'd love to hear the raw tracks for this to see the artistic choices made in mixdown.

Snarky Puppy apparently really like this format because they have recorded at least two albums like this. Check out their We Like It Here vids. There’s at least 30 or so people in the room, all listening to the mix live on headphones.
