    Marina your tips and the products you suggested have helped me manage this journey. I have stage 3 ovarian cancer and have been thru 6 rounds chemo and now another 3 cycles of another drug. I came out of this with just a wee bit nerourapthy in my small toe. I believe this is due to my faithfully using the ice gloves and slippers! Bless you for sharing. P.s. got some crazy chemo hair coming back. Lol

    What worked for me during chemo was preparing sugar free, caffeine free, vitamin reinforced round ice cubes. Amazon has these round balls and they are the size of a marble. I would swish them around in my mouth during taxol and this prevented mouth sores. They helped me with not having a metallic taste when it came to eating food. I wanted to avoid the sugar that banana have. You really need potassium and sodium to keep hydrated. After getting home from chemo, I'd drink water to flush away the chemo.

  • @yvonnebenitez114

    I have a question, the cool gloves for preventing neuropathy, do you use it during the six hours the chemo lasts ? Or do you use in intervals of 20 min each hour?

  • @MarinaBlackford

    @MarinaBlackford

    2 жыл бұрын

    Chemo for me was one hour for each infusion so 2 hours in the chemo chair (not the hour before of premeds or the blood draw and labs). So I would wear them the whole time but I would ease into the ice gloves. I would start on the outside of the glove with my hand on it then start to put my hand in them. It’s very cold but will help prevent neuropathy.

    Marina, I am newly diagnosed with breast cancer, have just had two chemo treatments, so am still a newbie at all of this. Thank you for your videos and tips. I am starting to lose my hair and would like to hear from you...and others...how you came to terms with the loss, and what you did to deal with it. I don't like the idea of wigs, but don't know how I will feel about going without. I am looking at videos about tying scarves, looking at caps and hats, etc., but am a bit overwhelmed with it all right now. Any suggestions anyone can make would be appreciated.

  • @MarinaBlackford

    @MarinaBlackford

    Hi, thank you for being here! I’m sorry for what you’re going through. Losing the hair is a big part of the journey. I think you said it well, how do you deal with the loss? It is just that; a loss. I would select a scarf and a head wrap that look comfortable and pretty to you. I think it’s important to have those ready. Wigs are great option if you want to do that. I would suggest going to a wig shop first to try some on if you can. To be honest, you don’t know how you’re going to feel until it’s all gone. And I think we all need to feel those emotions when we’re there. That’s the only way to get through that part of the journey. Take it one day at a time as hard as it may seem. I’d love to hear back from you to see how you’re doing. ❤️
