Interesting thought about the running! I feel my best doing a mix of strength and running. I did lose muscle when I ran 3-4x per week, but that was because I didn’t keep my strength training up as much and didn’t eat enough. Now, I run 1-2x per week and strength train more. So, I feel stronger and fit, which is great!

Hi Natalie! Really have been enjoying your videos! I am a two time marathoner and my advice to you is to go to your local running store and have them watch your foot strike on the ground and fit you for running shoes. Like when I first started running I was supinating on my foot strike and had to wear shoes with more support but then as my calves got stronger I was able to switch to neutral running shoes. You also want to make sure when you run you have a midfoot strike and you aren’t running on your toes or heals. Also I would recommend rolling your calves and finally I know you really like reading a book you might like is called Born to Run by Christopher McDougall

I also used to never run and when I started I got the worst sore feelings in my shins!! It took a while for my shins to get used to running. Now they're fine 😂 and it doesn't happen anymore. Even though it hurt, it helped me to still run (lightly) even though my shins hurt. And stretching also helped a bit, but the most difference will make the consistency in running more and getting used to it. Btw, I'm still not a great runner but I like it so much more than when I started. And for me running didn't change my body appearance at all. I run 2-3 times a week in a good week and 0 times in a bad week - so not too consistent. But what I have noticed is that my endurance has increased so much and I just always feel so much more healthy after a run! 💪 (So don't worry about losing your muscles, that doesn't happen that quickly)

Love that you started running and you’re my favorite KZreadr. I hope to start a business one day. Running Is fun the more you do it :). Sounds like you might need to get fitted for running shoes and also slow down, like so slow, annoyingly slow. Most of your runs should be in zone 2 heart rate (Apple Watch can tell you this if you have one) which helps avoid injury. Speed runs + race day is when you push yourself to zone 4!

Thanks for sharing all of your productivity tips and tricks! As for your shin splints...the type of running shoe you wear can make a lot of difference. It may take some trial and error to see what works for you, but try on as many different types of shoes as you can to see what feels the best. Also be sure to keep your feet and ankles stretched and rolled out before and after your workouts 💜

Hi :) I run and I do not think I've lost much muscle at all. I think I have actually felt stronger and more capable because of running! You just need to focus on eating enough protein and incorporating strength training, and it should all be good! Also, ya like someone said def go to a running store to get a proper pair of shoes and stretch/foam roll after the run. You got it girl!! I'm rooting for you!!
