Really enjoying these old vids. Even better when the venues are close enough for me to go and fish myself

Been use a 6mtr whip (think it's a Cadence) for a year now. Caught a 10lb Common on a single rubber maggot, size 14 hook, without any problems. Happy days 😁

Looks like a great tool for long lining to hand, great for natural venue's with a steep bank behind you which makes shipping back so awkward with a pole, that float on the long line was perfect 👍👍

Love the banter between two old friends. Missed the “quid”. Very good demonstration of whip fishing. Can’t wait to try.

David Haigh in the right circumstances whips can make fish catching very effective, efficient and enjoyable.

Could I ask do you think this whip would work on a slow moving river at 18 feet deep like the Yorkshire Derwent I am sure Paul would have a view.

Now we have another contender in the long Whip stakes. I have advocated whips since I started my channel for the simplicity and effectiveness of the the whip. I have a 20 year old Daiwa 7 mtr Whip and as I will be getting a longer one in the future I wish I could get a look at one of these! My only complaint and this applies to all the makers, why can’t a top section be supplied with a big bore ready for elastic so you don’t have to either remove the top section or cut back severely. I know some makers supply a hollowtip but they still require cutting back. How about it as an option Cadence

Easy Fishing surely there is a cut off point (pardon the pun) whereby elastic diameter and PTFE bushes can be fitted in terms of section diameter? I think this whip top kit can be elasticated at an ideal diameter as shown in the video. I'll get James to comment. Best regards Chappy.

Cadence Fishing UK Hi yes of course there is a point at which a bush can be fitted. But this then becomes a shorter whip and while no doubt it will perform well it is the same scenario as with a lot of long poles where you pay for a 13 mtr Pole and then chop a lot of carbon of the end so you are able to fit an internal bush. A cheaper option might be a short dolly butt to bring it back to full length? By the way I enjoyed your different camera angles in this video capturing James and Paul against a great backdrop! I hope it didn’t cost to much to fix that other camera. Tight Lines

I think James needs to give his opinion on your cutting back dilemma, I can't really see myself, but I'll keep an open mind. The slow mo camera I use is a Panasonic FZ2000. A true gem. You know what though, it was 'fecked' for four days, totally locked up. I drove to Stoke to get it fixed and as soon as the repair guy handled it, it came back to life again! In all my 30 years of camera handling I have never seen such a 'miracle'. Truly bizarre! He blamed the heat...he may be correct, but I suspect witchcraft, you know what them Stokeys are like LOL. Anyway, it will be pressed into service again asap. I really missed its capabilities on this film and had to make do with a gopro as you can see.

Just thinking about your cutting back point again. Not trying to do you down or anything by the way. However, surely a whip is meant to be used with a fixed flick tip anyway for the most part? As James and Paul discuss in the video, they prefer to not use elastic as the fish (often of various sizes) tend to come 'to hand' at too many various lengths of line when an elastic is used. So I would suggest that whips are designed the way they are with a flick tip scenario in mind. Anyway, let's see what James says, he's the expert designer.

Easy Fishing.. I was interested in upgrading a 20yr old 7m Shakespeare whip as like you, seen the trade has cottoned back on to the whip trend in the last year. I have compared my whip to the Drennan Acolyte at the 7m length and it still compares so favourably I am not going to upgrade. I personally think whips were so good back in the day that the jump in technology has not improved them like the jump in poles has. Try an take your Daiwa with you an compare side by side an you may see what I mean. If you are new to whip fishing though or need to replace a broken one then all these new whips are great and this Cadence looks the biz too. I would have liked to have seen this sold at 6mtr with the option of buying the other sections like how Cadence sell there pole (great idea that). Awesome video as always BTW.

james just a quick question ..are you going to be making a 20 ft stick/wagler rod...as the ones on e bay sell quickly ,,and for a price at that ..to many bids to few 20 ft stick/wag rods.//yes you can get 17 ft rods ,,i have one ,but a 20 ft slim light stick /wag,for rivers there are none around,..the control i am told is amazing i would like one but can not get one,. for love or money /thanks .nice whip.//by the way,/
